Dog food is bought in and thats another job crossed off the list - 2 x 15kg sacks. Just the potatoes and compost to buy now with a visit to the butchers then actually we are pretty much done. Checked in the loft and there is plenty of Christmas cards (bought in last years Next sale) and loads of wrapping paper too, so I will not even have to venture out for that. The only thing I will have to buy is the stamps and posting them in a timely manner making sure that the post does actually get there in the end.
Not sure if any of you are interested, but Pets At Home have on offer the Pedigree dried dog food at £19.00 per 15kg sack. We got two which made it £38.00 but that will last us well into the new year.Cat, Dogs and the Horses are our fag and beer money:beer:

I am going to add one suggestion that you will hate. HAve you seriously considered whether it would be better to relocate somewhere where you have more resources and a better standard of accomodation. It sounds like you are renting somewhere that really is not suitable for all year round living; it might be fine for a holiday let but not as a full-time house.
That was my thought too but I was too timid to post it xI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Hello mancbird - I expect you are very excited and in full nesting mode - I was with both of mine.
Please seriously consider the buble wrap cut-to-fit each window and magically fixed with a sparay of water onto glass - you can get 50 metres of large bubble (better for light and view apparently) on amazon for less than £10 +free delivery. All energy websites rave about it.
Im not sure about the calor gas - you have to keep babe warm definitely but all gas and solid fuel heaters need a source of ventilation (usually an airbrick) to be safe.
I can heartily recommend a proper sheepskin - they are absolutely fantastic and very soothing and warm - paediatric consultant was very pro for my first and thats going back a bit - they are washable , babe cannot suffocate on them and it was def. the best thing I bought for my 2. Kiwis and Aussies have used them for decades.
My son was born early - so very small and on the last day of January. It was extremely cold (we were in a Victiorian single story gatehouse, so all outside walls - I often had him in a front carrier and used my own body heat to keep him snug. Best advice for autumn/winter babes is do not take them out after dark - its just too damp and and cold for tiny chests.debt free 2021 at current DMP rate[/COLOR] (probably be in an old peoples home by then)0 -
Hi tugrin
Operation nesting has well and truly commenced in the Mancbird householdreally can't wait to meet my little man!
I think I will definitely give the bubble wrap a go. We have a roll of it in the outhouse so will dig that out
That's a good point about the calor gas heater as I suppose there won't be a lot of ventilation if I'm trying to keep the draughts out!!
Off to Google sheepskins now....

something else off the list today, got the kitchen curtains up and what a difference - the kitchen even 'looks' warmer! quite chilly here tonight, so have been looking for chunky wool to knit a lovely waistcoat - quite like the sirdar range of chunky -its just the price that is putting me off!Every days a School day!0

My winter jacket arrived. I opted for a Superdry one as I had heard amazing reveiws about them. I ordered 2 sizes bigger, normally an 8 so I got a 12. It just about fits, sending it back for a 14. Lovely jacket though (OT but how on earth can clothing stores get away with the random sizing? I range from a 4 to an 16 depending on the store, I can understand maybe a size each way but that is abyssmal!!)
Skint Bint - thanks for the M&M link, going to buy the LO them :j.
Completely off topic - my last car payment was made today. I now officially own my car!! Plus that means more money for my emergency buffer/house fund.
Off to Costco tonight so will stock up on what I can
Hi there, which one did you get please as I love their stuff. The fleeces are soooo thick.0 -
