  • Been reading as much of the thread as I can ( starting from the beginning of this one and I shall try to find the old one too).

    Here are my lists

    Food
To be honest not a lot needed as I keep a daft amount in stock.

    Got
    Rice
    Pasta
    Dried Beans
    Lentils
    TVP mince
    UHT Milk
    Sugar
    Tea
    Coffee
    Chocolate
    Stock cubes
Cheap stuffing mix (for stuffing/burger/meatloaves etc)
    Instant mash
    Instant custard
    Tinned toms
    Baked beans
    Oats
Plus the contents of 2 fridge/freezers and 2 small upright freezers (I know, I can't explain it either there are only 3 of us!)

    To Get
Tinned peas, more toms, beans (kidney/butter/etc), chickpeas, fruit, flour, yeast, butter, cheese, squashes (ribena and cranberry - vitamin c), spare dried fruit, cat food/biscuits/litter (we have 7 , toilet rolls, balm tissues ( I have a seriously sore nose with every cold).
Make chutneys from apples in garden.

    Household
    Mid-terrace about 30 yrs old.

    Got
    Double glazed except front door
    Loft insulated
Got the cavity walls done this summer.
    Rollerblinds on nearly all windows
Light curtains on french doors and front door.
    C/H about 10 yrs old.
Have about 7 or 8 fleece blankets
Candles (grew up in a tiny village that always have powercuts).
    Matches
    Toiletries
    Household cleaners
    Coats, gloves, hats, scarves.
Big homemade clothes airer in stairwell ( we have a window there so no condensation)
    Quilts
Hot water bottles (I prefer them - heat seems to last longer than gel/grain alternatives)
BBQ(gas) in garden in case of power cut (electric cooker)
    Meds
    First Aid
Spare Mobile (nothing posh but it came free when I kept my contract.)

    To Sort/Get
    Curtains for all windows.
Heavier door curtains (need to get them sewn)
Finish putting up our small double glazed from ebay conservatory (further thermal barrier/area to dry clothes and for the cats to have more space to explore)
    Toilet rolls.
    Bulbs.

    Car
OH does that as I don't drive. He normally has most things in the car at all times as he does site visits so likes to be prepared.

    Have I missed anything?
    Put the kettle on. ;)

Drying sheets by hanging them over the top of doors - Wouldn't work in our house. They'd need to be washed again. There's two years' dust on our door top edges. Can't bear to remove all that additional insulation :rotfl:

When we moved in we realised we would need to dry stuff on doors & bannister as there isn't enough space otherwise. However, the tops of the doors were a bit manky, even after cleaning, so we covered them with masking tape - will come off easily when we move out, but keeps the washing clean now!:T
    Trust me - I'm NOT a doctor!

you could try ebay (this was the only white one I could find http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SOFT-WHITE-FLEECE-60-WIDTH-/150485146469?pt=UK_Crafts_Fabric_Textiles_SM&hash=item23099d1b65) or your local fabric shop or fabric stall on a market. I've not seen fleece blankets in white its always cream.

p.s. I'm not the seller! just came across it last night when looking for spotted fleece.

Thank you sooo much for the link. I did check Ebay but that one never came up. :o

Hi Jo, I would try Ikea or Tesco's - they often have some quite cheap if you search instore. Otherwise do you have a homebargains close by or a B+M store. They are cheap too and usually have things like this in

    HTH

I do not have a Home Bargains near me, nearest is 180 miles return trip. I looked the B&M store but no luck there either so I thought I would ask on here.

Not wishing to sidetrack the thread but I put cling film on the top of my fridge freezer, just peel back the dust!
  • Im thinking of trying the bubblewrap idea on the conservatory windows as it gets so so cold out there in the winter. Think I have plenty of it somewhere :D

MrT use it to line veg/fruit displays - I usually take a few sheets when i do my shopping.. It only goes in the bin  so I am glad to be able to recycle it - for whatever purposes :)

(really wish these supermarkets would DO SOMETHING about their own waste, rather than nag us about whether we need bags or not :/ I am sure re-using their bubblewrap would make as much of a difference as us re-using our bags... which I already do as rubbish sacks ;))

Thanks Frugal thats a good idea never thought of getting some from there. I used to sell books and when I had had enough decided to sell the whole lot off in one go - we went to our local supermarket plenty of times to pick up the crates that veg comes in, think the staff in there thought we were odd just walking round the veg aisle collecting boxes You cant believe the things that they waste! :D
