Anyone know where I can get a white thermal fleece blanket measuring 100cms by 150cms? It is to line a blanket my 90 year old Gran has just crocheted for me.

Can anyone help as it has to be white rather than cream or off white and I can not find any?

you could try ebay (this was the only white one I could find http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SOFT-WHITE-FLEECE-60-WIDTH-/150485146469?pt=UK_Crafts_Fabric_Textiles_SM&hash=item23099d1b65) or your local fabric shop or fabric stall on a market. I've not seen fleece blankets in white its always cream.

p.s. I'm not the seller! just came across it last night when looking for spotted fleece.

  • Hi Jo, I would try Ikea or Tesco's - they often have some quite cheap if you search instore. Otherwise do you have a homebargains close by or a B+M store. They are cheap too and usually have things like this in

This preparing for winter can become a bit of an obsession:p

We have triple lagged the loft, double underlaid the carpets, lined curtains. I have knitted hats, gloves, leg-warmers and fingerless gloves for the world and his wife. We also have a very warm, woollen tartan blanket which we use over our knees in the evenings. I have thermal vests and long-johns, a huge over-eiderdown for the bed, hot-water bottles and a thermal flask at the ready. I recently purchased several hand-knitted pure wool cardigans from Ebay (true bargain, though not a fashion statement:rotfl:) We live in a small, newish house with good double-glazing.

But I'm still fretting about how to prepare for winter.
    It's very difficult to stop!

I think that you have over wintered and are now "officially wintered out".

My flat hasn't got any central heating - trying to decide on which is best, a halogen heater or a ceramic heater, anybody got any thoughts? Had a halogen one before but wondering if would be better off with the ceramic one but not sure if it would gobble up the electric..... thanks in advance

Sorry Jo, haven't seen white fleeces. The one in Ikea is cream albeit a vary pale cream.

Today I had windows open and was wearing a tshirt so winter seemed a long way off. But checked the weather forecast and see it's set to get very cold on Friday night. It's too mild for anything but a light nightie and summer duvet at the mo but I have the thicker one on standby for when it's needed.

And I've booked a a chimney sweep for next week - and it will cost 10 quid less than last year! :j
Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far! :)
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!

  • Managed to buy most of the food for my car kit and emergency food bag from this month's food budget, so I am very pleased.

Unfortunately, no more £1 wind up torches in poundland :(

I did find out today though that I was an owner of a leatherman wave, which I didn't know I had!! :D

Hi Jo, have you tried this? It is 150cm by 200cm but it can be tacked to size. :) A search revealed a few pram blankets too - could these be an option if you could find two of them?
