Preparing for winter II

Have reserved the last two sets of dinner candles from argos (now down to 99p for a 10 pack). Kids away for a couple of days so lots of work to be done here. Think I may concentrate on the garden as serious tidying needing doing before winter sets in.
You lot must be rubbing off on me as got 9 x 4 packs branston beans (B1G2F) and 3 more 4 packs of chopped toms (B1G2F) from Mr T yesterday and looked unsucessfully for de-icer. Running short on storage now so larder cupboard needs a big clear out.
These craghoppers sound great but need to hold off spending any more at the mo. Keep picking up Christmas presents from the grabbit board and its costing me a fortune! Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.
If you quote me, don't forget the capital 'M'

Ditto!!! Got 9 x 4 packs and need to clear out my larder to make room for everything0 -
Well, I spent a couple days dithering whether to buy the Craghopper lined trousers. I eventually went for them and during my dithering (don't like paying postage if I can help it) I seem to have ordered two pairs on separate transactions. Never mind, I'm sure they'll come in as long as they fit.
Bought Dad some Yaktrax. Finished lining curtains, and have good store cupboard.
I think I'm ready until someone points out that I haven't done.......0 -
Good Morning All!
I've been a long time lurker and have learnt loads from you all - Thank you!!. This thread has inspired me to prepare for winter (having moved from london to what seems like the countryside to me I was suprised to learn how COLD it gets here!!) and make sure I have the correct food stores in (ooops, might have gone a bit over board there! I now have absolutely noooo room in the freezers and the study is looking like an annex of a supermarket!!). I have to admit to previously being a horrible spendthrift (am working on that with a reasonable amount of success!), but fortunately my other half has always been OS (after a 3 yr LD relationship, and getting engaged last Dec., he finally moved in, in May. I think the prospect of not having to do 800mile round trip commutes every week helped). So meanwhile, my hankerchiefed sized garden has, courtesy of my beloved, generated 3 sacks of potates, green beans till they come out of my ears (and they're still coming!), courgettes, cauli, broccoli and various fruit. We also got lucky and found a greengage tree and blackberry bushes in the park nearby-fruit is all stashed in the freezer ready for hot puds in various guises over winter! I've been menu planning like a demon and In the last couple of weeks I've managed to swap energy supplier and get a fixed rate thingy (which was great cos I will save about £300 a year by the comparison site calc's) and beloved has reused/recycled various bits of wood from pallets and stuff the neighbour was chucking out to construct and install a load of shelving in the garage. The constant battle to declutter continues - but at least it gives me something to do, when I'm not at work and the weather is inclement lol.
Once again thanks to every one!0 -

thanks for the link for the craghopper trousers. Well spotted. Just what I need for the allotment. I've also ordered this cosy fleece: http://www.craghoppers.com/buy/kumara-half-zip-fleece-194601
Theres some really good bargains on their site at the moment!
Does anyone know where I can get some decent boot socks? I really suffer with cold feet and its limits how long i can spend down at the allotment!£2019 in 2019 #44 - 864.06/20190 -

Just had an idea... for my outside pipe that freezes in VERY cold weather... Would windscreen de-icer spray work on it if I got to it early enough... or if I sprayed it each evening/morning?
Not sure if that is a mad idea or if it could actually work?
Any ideas anyone?0
