I keep buying the 2kg bag of sugar in tesco as it's £1.29 which I think is cheap.

Thank you so much for that info, it's £1.05 per kilo in MrS near me and 85p pk in the tesco local, so £1.29 for 2 kilos is a bargain :money: and at this time of year worth the extra 1 1/2 mile round trip for me so I can stock up :D

think they have it set to american keyboard vs uk, there are 3 places you have to select and change to uk if you reformat the computer etc, they probably missed one, had this problem for ages on my old computer because I couldn't find the third one to change! got a new computer so now i have ££££££ again without copying and pasting from somewhere or bringing up my character map :D

Anyhow, my list doesn't seem to be getting any shorter, even though I AM crossing things off... I just keep on adding things to it every time I read this thread :rotfl:

Snap! Mine's grown substantially and I've got loads done - just think tho' how happy I'll be if the worst happens and I'm organised and don't have to try to traipse several miles through feet of snow/slide on ice to get to the store to find there's no bread etc

Any pet owners ... thought of another one that had slipped my mind as it's one of the obvious things you use everyday and just don't think about ...... poop bags! Can you imagine running out of those:eek: (I go through at least 6 a day - 4 (dog) & 2 (cats litter tray).....

  • There is a real possibility that we'll be moving to a remote Scottish Island and won't find out for certain till another 3-4 weeks.

I know that I'll have to be stock pile queen once there but to get up there we're going to have to think very carefully what we take. We're storing our furniture and renting a furnished house if the move happens. We'll basically go up with a car full.

So I can't prepare if we stay put just incase we move.
I need to prepare if we stay here
I need to prepare for if we move to the Isles

but I can't do anything! It's driving me mad

    Ohhhh lucky you!

I agree with what Confuzzled has said - grew up in a remote northern place of Scotland - now live in another rural area where you're still counted as an "outsider" even if you've lived here 20+ years but weren't actually born here!

Also agree with the deliveries - many companies charge big surcharges to H&I so get as much as you can and you'll def save money over buying in local shops (if you can find it).

Another tip is to go earlier in the day rather than later. Last week when I was popping in after work there was very few or wasn't any 2kg left. This week I'm going in before work as I can only carry one bag at a time.

I'm totally loving this thread. I live in a draghty old country cottage and keeping warm without breaking the bank in oil bills is a major task every year.

Last year we put up plastic perspex sheets at the sitting room window and actually managed to keep the room warm. This year, my plan is to do the rest of the cottage, or at least the main bedroom and kitchen, depending on how much it costs just now.

I thought I was the only nutter thinking about winter and christmas already! Thankfully I'm not alone. :A
