Shall I look or go on my only previous experience of Groupon, which was good?:o

i'm careful with groupon to only do the low priced deals and i ALWAYS go via paypal as they are aggressive at dealing with non compliant sellers...

i just took them up on their organic fruit and veg box (scottish delivery only, it's a small company) and i was irked to discover that though i paid £8 for the deal via paypal the cashback on topcashback says i paid £6.67 so i got about 7-8p less in cashback than i expected. i know it's not a massive difference but it does make me question their practices... i suspect this is an issue on the groupon side not tcb as i've never had problems with tcb other than the odd thing not tracking and they've always resolved that with no issues...

use them for small things, use paypal, careful as you can be and still get good deals ;)

Good Afternoon Preppers! Over the weekend I have :
    1) ordered 8 sacks of seasoned logs (in addition to my usual coal order) which should arrive early next week:j
    2) ordered a pair of the lined jeans from crag-hoppers (if they are a good fit, i.e. short and wide like me:o, I will order another couple of pairs)

    3) managed to get a decent supply of my migraine medication

    4) sorted out my clothes and found about a dozen thin jumpers that can be layered together :)

    5) actually got round to freezing some hm soup and stew (been on my "to-do" list for months)!

Still to do are things like stock-take the freezer and kitchen cupboards, check my storage dust-bin for salt, cat litter etc, bake a few rich fruit cakes, supposedly as Christmas cakes but will probably be eaten before then if it gets too cold :rotfl:and I am waiting for the roofer to get back to me about the flat-roof that needs replacing..... I KNOW he is really busy at the moment but he said it should only take one day to do BUT if we keep on getting the downpours that we had yesterday, I might be in trouble

Anyhow, my list doesn't seem to be getting any shorter, even though I AM crossing things off... I just keep on adding things to it every time I read this thread :rotfl:

Thanks again for all the suggestions, happy prepping everyone,

    Alice

Read this and the comments section the last but one is a person from Galsgow who has summed it up well, they believe we are in for a harsh winter and with the early Autumn they believe it is the trees shutting down and conserving stock/sugar to help them get through a nasty winter.

My door curtain/fleece combo is a triumph, even if I do say so myself. It's a half glazed PVC door and I couldn't put anything above the door there's no wooden baton and it would be a nightmare to drill holes as its a solid wall. So I put bits of velcro across the top of the door and the other bit of velcro around the header tape strings. So far staying up. The added bonus is that the cat flap is now also covered as that let through a draught.

My food store is coming on nicely. I keep buying the 2kg bag of sugar in tesco as it's £1.29 which I think is cheap. Need quite a lot for when the blackberries are ready to turn into jam.

I went into Iceland and they had 4 tins of crosse and blackwell spaghetti and beans for £1. And the John West tuna in there is still 4 tins for £3. A few of them made it into the cupboard.

:) Hi hun, think your keyboard is set to American English not English English. There is a way to change this which was posted on another thread and I noted it down a few months ago. Need to do this on my Dad's PC at the weekend as I borrow it when at theirs and it drives me absolutely bananas.

    Start- Control Panel-Regional Language Options-

Change everything there into English English as default and save.

HTH; haven't yet done it myself but will try at the weekend.

:o Ohhhh, that's a bit too technical for me. I'm stumped. Do we have tech-y threads on MSE to ask on?
