Preparing for winter II

Thats for the pot noodle heads up - i really hate asda, but may take a trip over there as OH loves pot noodles.
This weekend i am purchasing a thermos food flask for OH for lunches in winter. and a single duvet and cover so put on the sofa for a bit more warmth.
Will also add to the food stores as it's pay day and will spend a good amount on food.(OH doesn't know where the winter stores are so he can't eat any of it!)
will search for single serve dishes for pies/lasagnes/etc for OH and I for dinners (and portion control)
also starting my clothes search - 1st on the list are socks and gloves
You may already know this but homebargains do the thermos style jars really cheap. I say jar as its the only way i can describe them, its basically a wide thermos with a lid ideal for storing food in. Very simlar to this and not that expensive.

I work to that timetable too R-D, my pantry is more or less stocked up as I don't run things down much through the summer, just make sure I use things in order. I'm planning one big order in September to finish off.
re Christmas - last year I kept a note of the food I threw out and I'm ashamed to say it makes for shocking reading  so I'm buying much less this year. I've already frozen the fruit for my dessert of choice though - cherry or strawberry cheesecake... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

This may seem strange but I am planning on building up a wine store for the winter among other things! I am planning to visit the car boot sale this weekend and try and get one of those large wine racks, the ones that come up to about waist height, which I will then home in the cupboard under the stairs. I am then planning on buying wine in the "three for £12" offer as often as I can afford. This way in the winter when prices of food and fuel are sky rocketing I at least have a nice little store of vino for the cold winter nights.

Seeing as most bottles are screw tops now, wine racks are really obsolete. You would save on the space by just buying the wine in the case and keeping it in the case stacked out the road.
For the price - lidl wine is very drinkable and they do some great deals on small cases - great for stacking in tight spaces0 -
I have just had one log delivery and need to make room for another one before winter otherwise I will be stuffed! Also I need to get the coal in but apart from that my main priority is to finish painting the doors. Otherwise I am pretty much ready for whatever is thrown at me!0

Dunelm have the Super King Waters & Noble brushed cotton sheets in stock. They are a little pricey per item, but those ones are very thick and substantial so they are worth the money!Cat, Dogs and the Horses are our fag and beer money

Ok probably a dumb question but here goes.
Im hoping to move in the autumn and will loose my larger kitchen (not really that fussed) but will gain a garage.
The garage is in a block oposite the house, would I be able to keep stockpiles of packets etc in theer as well as tins?
I was thinking of putting them in large lidded plastic boxes so that no pests can get in, or would it still be too cold etc?
Many thanksI smile because I have no idea what is going on!0 -

Thanks for this I shall go in tomorrow and have a stock up. We are allot of Heinz soup now and more than enough. The Tesco offer on that ends next week 2 August so we are done on that one.
Lidl also have the crochet hooks and knitting needles on offer as well as wool. They also have allot of sewing stuff. Not sure what you all have, but as you have been avidly sewing and what not you might want to have a look.
I have bought one pck of the brushed cotton sheets from Dunelm, a flat sheet, fitted sheet and two pillow cases for £34.99 in king size.
I also bought a made in Britain (hooray and at last for something made in the UK) draught excluder and I am really pleased with it too. Dunelm have some sale stuff on so you might want to take a look. They are also getting their Autumn collections in and out on display ready now!Cat, Dogs and the Horses are our fag and beer money:beer:
