Thanks Kitchen I will stock up both for winter and now. They have a multitude of uses and can usually squeeze out 2 or 3 meals per can for me.

I saw the pot noodles too, a deffo bargain.

Thanks for the advice on the duvet, i will have to put it outside when the weather is nicer for a couple of days. Stinks awful!

I have no luck in charity shops what so ever, maybe i dont go in early or often enough :/

Money is really tight atm, so many bills to pay and its driving me mad! So glad i prepared for winter and xmas earlier as its taken a huge weight off my shoulders.

Thats for the pot noodle heads up - i really hate asda, but may take a trip over there as OH loves pot noodles.

This weekend i am purchasing a thermos food flask for OH for lunches in winter. and a single duvet and cover so put on the sofa for a bit more warmth.

Will also add to the food stores as it's pay day and will spend a good amount on food.(OH doesn't know where the winter stores are so he can't eat any of it!)

will search for single serve dishes for pies/lasagnes/etc for OH and I for dinners (and portion control)

also starting my clothes search - 1st on the list are socks and gloves

Wish i could eat hotdogs but i saw a program on how they are made i feel sick looking at them in the shop now! Otherwise they'd be great for winter lunches at home.

Sorry guys I fogot to tell you that Primark do a pack of two socks in Autumn and Winter whihc are fleece like think they call them cosy socks or something like that!!!

Anyway I have had mine about three years now and they really do keep your feet lovely and warm. I use mine allot especially in the boots for the horses and dog walking and they are nice and thick too. Primark have them around the tills in garish colours for £2.00. Actually I think thats a bargain because as I say they seem to just last and mine are always in the washing machine and they come up beautifully. Really recommend tese especially if you are like me and flit between slippers and socks to pad about the house in.

Wish mine did, I buy 3 packs every year as they lose their fluffiness and get thin on the sole.
Maybe I wear mine too often:o but I wouldn't be without them, nor their fleece PJ's and dressing gowns :D

ou are right Annie they do go a bit compacted on the sole but the rest of it holds together and still keeps you warm. They also dry quick whihc is a Billy bonus when you are drying indoors on airers as well.

Also forgot to mention that I have been buying thick fleece pyjamas and all in ones for my son from primark for about three years now. They wash and wear very well considering they are around £4 a pair. My son still has some from three years ago (I bought some a bit big, hehe) and they are still going strong.

I agree with the PJ's from Primark. I buy the kids them & they wash well, dry in minutes & keep their shape. I have a trip coming up this october with my best pal & its to primark we go to stock up on winter essentials. They do have lovely long polo neck jumpers for the ladies which also wash well & are warm.

Technically September - which is only four weeks away  - should be the big final push for getting everything done, then October can just deal with anything externally such as the leaves, cleaning guttering and getting in sacks of potatoes or anything that you plan to buy in bulk. If you are doing your own Christmas cake and puddings, then you might want to pre plan ahead and buy those ingredients in slowly now, with the exception of the eggs, everything else is keepable.

Come November you should have everything done so the only thing you need to be thinking about is Christmas food and getting that in slowly (tins of biscuits etc) so you are not splurging out in one big go on December's pay packet and leaving you stony broke for January. I always leave a £250.00 'cushion' fund for January which has stood us in good stead for many years and it has worked well. My friend worked for M&S on the food section tills and she said it was eye opening come December and January as most people going through the tills were putting it on their credit cards!! Well that bill has to be paid though!

I am keeping my eye on the long range forecasts at the moment to see if there is any change. The hedgrows are loaded with berries by us.

One final word about flannelette sheets - or any sheets for that matter. When you buy them and take them out of their wrappers it is really important that you wash your sheets before using them. The manufacturers spray the textiles with a preservative that contains amongst other ingredients - Formaldehyde  Formaldehyde is a known carcinogenic and it is toxic. Therefore, before you even think of putting them away in the cupboard wash them.
