Looks like Amazon do some good deals on the grocery bulk buying, so may be worth keeping an eye on.

I couldn't get mine to cook a beef casserole even after 10 hours in a well insulated box.
So I'm guessing either my pot or how I heated it was wrong.
I used my pyrex casserole dish heated in the oven for 30mins , then put in box.
Improvement ideas on my method welcome:D0 -

They and a couple of others have had it right on the money for the last two previous winters and they are saying it's going to be a corker this year.
I have just finished cleaning out the garage and tidying up the two double cupboards as well out there. It really does look so tidy. I will have to sweep it out in October and November as the leaves come in when the door gets opened up for me to get the car in and out, but other than that it's done. Next big job is sorting the freezer out but that can wait until August bank holiday because I want to time it so that when we run out of meat it is the New Year and not before Christmas.
I bought two boxes of the Hal's Extra Strength Throat Lozenges from Poundland today 24 per box which is pretty good considering that Stepsils had eight per box! Just need to get the Benylin cough mixture now and thats all completed (I will get that October time)Cat, Dogs and the Horses are our fag and beer money:beer:

Thank you for the lovely welcome and just a couple of questions to you experts (and a tip hopefully)
I read some of you sew tin foil on curtains between the fleece and the curtain. Can I ask is there any increase of condensation on the windows by doing this and even more importantly how on earth do you sew tin foil:)
Another daft question I know but the sponge idea - do you remove your sponges before the postman arrives as mine is a bit hit and miss with the time he comes so that could be difficult.
And finally a tip that may help someone
These are really lovely and seem a good price to me
oh sorry it says I cannot post a link but its a jml snuggie 2 pack for £10
from jml direct
Thank you again everyone

Been reading through and catching up. Doesnt seem that long since I was doing the same thing last year!! Ive been to millets (sale on at the moment) and got me and OH new hats, scarves and new fleecy jumpers.
I have also made a list of food, drink and medicines to stock up on. It is wet and cold here today, and winter feels a lot closer than it should, considering its only august:(

She had me going there for a minute - it was one of those "hang on a second".
Enid, Last year the condensation in our house was terrible. We have long thick curtains throughout, but in the morning everything was pretty wet on the windows, so I used a towel to mop it all up and then went over with another towel and then a microfibre cloth. Periodically thorughout the day I would have to do the same but it was at night when the curtains were closed that there was this build up of condensation. I guess allot of it comes from the fact that we exhale water vapour which heads for the coldest spot - the windows! We are all double glazed uPVC, we have a front and back porch as wel as a conservatory so it was a job that had to be dealt with. You cannot leave condensation because it will quickly turn to black mould which the spores can affect your lungs. Some of my problem could have been down to using clothes airers to dry the washing, but the big stuff such as towels and bed sheets went off to the tumble dryer (as much as it grieved me to do it I used it because of the amount of water it holds).
In terms of your letterbox, you could tape it down and just have a box on the outside of your door. My aunt used an old bread bin, put a handle on it and painted 'POST' on the outside and it worked a treat. Downside is you have to open the door to get your mailCat, Dogs and the Horses are our fag and beer money:beer:
