You can also buy 'blanket lining' for your curtains as well. Not sure how much that costs as when I lived in my last house the previous people left the door curtains which were Laura Ashley and they had them blanket lined - after the first winter I realised why - it blowed a bloody great hooley through that door. I got it replaced in the end!

they look good - like the fact as you say, that they dont look messy whene not in use. We currently have a wobbly pile of fleeces on one end of sofa - its goning to fall by end of day i reckon!

For the radiators I cut some cardboard into a t-shape, covered it in foil and rested it on the radiator brackets by the 'arms' of the t. Last winter i bought blackout blinds for all the windows from Ikea. They're thermal backed so do double duty. HTH

These look good, has anyone got one? Probably not that thick but much neater than the scruffy fleeces that are strewn across my sofas ready for the dog to roll all over! Have ordered a couple to see what they're like (7% back through Quidco and you can often find codes for additional money off/free delivery)

I think I'm going to have to buy some of those - extra bargain because they come with a booklight, and they cost at least a fiver each (at least the ones I've seen do)

Curtains are next on the list of things to get done - washing them that is! If I do it when we get a really good day sunshine wise and a nice breeze I can hang them straight back up from the washing machine, the creases will fall out and they will dry good too!

I think this is a great thread and I remember looking at it lots last year. Some things I've done (without thinking so it must be this thread driving me!):

    - got from Argos earlier in the year - a sledge - as it's handy if you have to carry anything heavy back from the shops in snow/ice. I think the new catalogue comes out soon so probably good idea to get one early.

    - got the readings in for gas and electricity bills - so everything is up to date as it can be - so if need extra heat in winter you're not paying anything owed from previous bills plus the extra stuff you use.

    :)
:) Declutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage

I might have a look out for a snow shovel as we have got block paved driveway and we and to be careful last year using the metal spade. It's not so bad with plastic! Does anybody know where you can get decently priced snow shovels from by any chance?
