These are handwarmers They are basically small heated gel pack that you can activate by clicking, snapping etc and they can be kept in your pocket to keep you hands warm - for example when your out walking the dog etc.

Here I was thinking I had prepared for winter (last year) and within a week I've learned about halogen heaters and handwarmers.

I was ready to sign out of this site, but now, I'm think it's worth staying on to see if I can learn new ways of doing things, or doing them more efficiently.

I've just heard a Wilkinson is opening at the bottom of my road in a few weeks. EXCELLENT!!! I've really missed having a Woolies on my doorstep, Wilco is the next best thing.

When it's open I'm thinking of buying one of their trekking poles. I saw loads of people walking around Bristol with them last year. Would anyone else recommend them? Will I still need one if I'm wearing snow grabbers?

Sammy_kaye, I'd love to know how you make a word link to something i.e. 'handwarmers'. That's slick. If instructions are too long to post, would you pm me. Thanks.

    I have pm'd you chillout. x

Well am quite chilly today - although did return a raffle prize - a liverpool shirt - to sports direct earlier and treated us all to something or another.

Owen - sleeveless workout shirts that double as vests
ben - football socks for his football/rugby training
holly - a cute my little pony dress
me - a hoody which is orange and pink (sounds hideous but is lovely) plus it is thick enough to keep me warm but thin enough if I only need a light jacket - plus it cost me £6.

Definitely will be venturing to swansea again soon. In July mainly for hollys birthday but then come September once kids are back in school I think I will make a point of going back to purposely do a winter wardrobe stock up at primark.

Also decided now us, my mother in law and my sister in law all live at the top of the valley (before only mother in law did, and it was a struggle to get to her - imagine abandoned cars and walkign up hill for 20 minutes in snow/hail/ice):eek::eek: well now we are all up the hill me and mother in law have decided to get an extra freezer each and stock up on cupboard essentials each and if it comes to it in the winter we will be able to shop between us and swap.
    Time to find me again

I've recently ordered some wolly pullovers for me and DH to wear in the house during the winter. They are reduced from £30 to £7.50. I've also picked up other items half price and some reduced to £5. Its the Edinborough Woollen Mill site if anyone is interested.

Saw this and thought "that must be a typo" - but no! went onto Edinburgh Woollen Mill site and got a couple of them at £7.50 for me (as a big lady I like men's jumpers) and a couple for Xmas presents as well.

    Thanks Old Tractor

Put two of the three thermal blinds up today that i bought earlier in the week. They look nice and was easy enough to put up, i managed to do it without a drill which was a bonus as i haven't a clue how to use one!

Also put a voile swag up at my back door using net curtain wire, im going to make a curtain that can replace the voile come winter time, hopefully it will keep out the cold weather.

Got a thermal blackout blind to put up in my little ones room once i have finished decorating, im also going to put up lined curtains too so hopefully the room should be a lot warmer.

been to b & m today and bought my two hot water bottles off my list for OH and DS ready for the winter box, they were £1.99 each but they dont come with a cover so i will use old jumpers to make their covcers out of.

Now why didn't I think of that? I've got old jumpers (and two uncovered hot water bottles).

Thank you. Another mission for me.

Still trying to find some Snow Boots / Mucker Boots can not believe the difference in cost. If anyone finds any please give me a shout.

Im also looking for the following if anyone has any idea's
    • Mens Wool Jumpers
    • Ladies Wool Jumpers
    • Ladies / mens cheap fleece jumpers
    • Any general winter clothing
    Thank you in advance

Now I need to get cracking with my proper list!!

my jumpers arrived this morning from EMW. They are great. DH was most pleased with his bargin sweaters. their web site gives a price eg 50% off but when you go to check out it reduces by another 50% on some articles. I got him some pullys for £7.50 each. re mucker boots. Derby House or Robinsons , they have sales quite frequently,I buy mine then, usually £5 or £10 much reduced from original price.
  • If I've got this right...
    Thank you sammy-kaye

Look what Sammy_kaye taught me to do. Swanky! Brilliant.

Hope I did this right or I'm going to look a total dunderhead.

    Thanks Sammy.

This site can really be a naughty temptation. Why am I looking at the EWM site when I have just taken delivery of a knitting machine that I have dreamed of owning for years. Am I mad for thinking it would be cheaper to buy EWM sale stock, unravel it, and knit my own designs!!!! This just isn't fair.

Chillout-I tried using my trekking poles last winter but didn't find them very helpful.Once the snow had gone icy they didn't seem to dig in enough .
