I got handwarmers last year for us and my friends children from B&M - I have a question. The cake ones for the girls came in pairs, but the footie ones I got for the boys came in packs of 3 - why do boys need an extra one???

Sprinting through this list, I've been reading handwarmers and thinking gloves.

    Duh!

Em this obviously isn't the case. So what are handwarmers and how do they work? Do they work better than gloves?

I always have cold gloves. Wear gloves for about 8 months of the year, 2 pairs if it's really cold.

    Suggestions welcome.

I know to my embarrassed cost, if you're under thirty you probably don't use the word petticoat. I just thought gloves had similarly been renamed for the internet generation. I'm a transistor radio girl myself.

So what are handwarmers and how do they work? Do they work better than gloves?

These are handwarmers They are basically small heated gel pack that you can activate by clicking, snapping etc and they can be kept in your pocket to keep you hands warm - for example when your out walking the dog etc.

Im also looking for the following if anyone has any idea's
    Mens Wool Jumpers
    Ladies Wool Jumpers
Ladies / mens cheap fleece jumpers
    Any general winter clothing
    Thank you in advance

Now I need to get cracking with my proper list!!

Have you tried Store 21 for mens fleeces? I had one in there last year for boyfriend and it was £5 but kept him snug all winter - they also do the thick plaid shirts too which I think might be a good idea this winter as hes currently got gardening fever at the minute and building his shed. Am considering one myself for when Im walking muttley.

Also come to the conclusion I need a small bag of bits and bobs for when Im waiting for the bus this winter. I finish work at 10pm and the bus doesnt arrive until 10.25pm if it can come (snow is a no go in my hilled welsh valley) so Im thinking of getting a bag and keeping an insulated cup in it, and some handwarmers so when Im outside sat waiting int he cold I can at least be warm if I make a cup of tea up before I leave work. Plus Ill be investing in a good winter jacket, umbrella and gloves set
    Time to find me again

I got handwarmers and the grippy things to go over shoes from Chlas Olsen in Manchester last year.I get fleece tops-the ones with a short zip at the top- from Go Outdoors. They cost about £5.99-you have to have a card which costs about £4 but we get quite a lot of stuff from there so it's worth it for us.

I got a huge box of hand warmers from C0stc0 last year. I still have half left. They also do cheap fleeces but its very seasonal.

I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.

all i know is bloomin cold now lol im sat with my snuggie blanket that someone bought me for crimbo, its a good job they bought it me as i had pneumonia recently and im scared of getting it again because of a bloomin cold i couldnt shift.

Ive already started thinking about the big C (christmas presents)
i thought i would do a little emergency box for my elderly grandparents consisting of a box for the car with show grippers, torch, gloves, spare socks, first aid stuff, ice scraper and two blankets or throws?
because their elderly if they catch a cold and i progresses into pneumonia like mine did, it could kill them their in there 70's bless em.

im also going to do the same for my mum and the kids, as she has to take the kids on a 5 mile school trip and back and she got caught out last year and got stuck in tons of traffic as it was icy, so may put in a mini flask in hers to make a brew before she leaves or just store hot water in there and just put some cupa soups in her box there and some cups.............you never know.

so thanks for the ideas people im already sorting some crimbo emergency car boxes out for my loved ones.

I've been telling all the elderly people I know about the bad forecast for winter & telling them to get themselves prepared.
I've said to give me a shout f they need anything.

Popped into my local QS (Formerly Bewise) today and they had pairs of lovely fleecy/toasty gripper socks in nice colours on half price. Picked up two pairs at 60p each :D
