I still do! I only cast off my thermal undies last week and I may pop them back on again if the temperatures drop0

I'm back to collecting pine cones again in the allotment, ready for firestarters again this winter. There suddenyl seems to be a glut of them dropping, so I am not depriving the squirrels of too much.
And I need to do something about the open fire before next winter - I still want a fire but I want a closed stove to keep more of the heat, and if we can get a back boiler onto it, even better! We spent too much on gas this year for central heating, and we are much cosier in the sitting room during the winter, so a stove would work wonderfully.GC 2010 €6,000/ €5,897

Thinking ahead a bit, I've planted some herbs in the garden. I know this sounds summery, but I plan to cut some and dry it so I can use it throughout the winter. Beyond that, I'm not really doing too much for winter yet.

Hi, found this on the Ikea website, it is the BESKADA double wall fitting, (i'm not allowed to post links:(). You use it to put up two curtain rods so that you can double layer. I'm definately going to give it a go for next winter. Want to get everything sorted now before I forget how cold I was.:) Also if like me you are useles at sewing most of their curtains are a standard 300cm length and come with an iron on hem so you can just cut to size and iron them.(\__/)(='.'=)(")_(")0

Just bought my first Kilner jar, so I'm reading up on preserving and bottling now for winter. I'm wondering if I could bottle or make some kind of rhubarb jam to put aside... Apart from that, the only winter prep I'll be doing is going through my old socks and replacing the worn ones (they'll be used in a draught excluder
) with some fresh ones. And a few bed socks too!
