Wet and windy here! I hate strong winds, find them a bit scary:eek: The noise down the chimney was so bad last night I gave up on trying to hear the telly and had an early night. Much better, tucked in with a cup of tea and a book. I used to laugh at my mother when she used to do that, now it's such a treat:o
'Ne'er cast a clout 'til May is out' It'll be a while before I start peeling some of my layers off. My OH dubbed it 'the dance of the 7 fleeces', around Maytime if we're lucky!:rotfl:

That is what my FIL used to say, he was originally from Dalkeith near Edinburgh, and would never change from his longjohns until May.
    My self & hubby; 2 sons (30 & 26). Hubby also a found daughter (37).
Eldest son has his own house with partner & her 2 children (11 & 10)
Youngest son & fiancé now have own house.
    So we’re empty nesters.
    Daughter married with 3 boys (12, 9 & 5).
My mother always served up leftovers we never knew what the original meal was. - Tracey Ulman

    I've been Money Tipped!
For anyone thinking of putting any young plants out towards the end of this month, take a look at https://www.metcheck.com.

They are forecasting snow around the 21st Feb for us in Staffordshire and also for Anglesey and London, plus wind speeds of 30+ mph at the same time.

I know Piers Corbyn has predicted snow in Feb so I will def be making sure I have the essentials in by the 21st.

Well that means I certainly won't be bringing my little four-shelved mini greenhouse with its plastic cover out of winter hibernation just yet. Even if it's strapped to the wall, more freezing snow and wild winds won't do the plastic cover much good.

well we did make it to the store yesterday, decided to walk there then get the taxi back with the groceries, about 5 minutes out though i wished i'd taken the taxi as the winds were so cold and biting it set my back off and it was seizing up so tightly i thought it might squeeze my spine right out of me :rotfl:

don't know if we'll get hit here with the snow forcast for later this month but i'm feeling a lot happier knowing we've got stocks laid in just in case.

i just hope it doesn't get too bad, even in the house if the weather is too cold outside it makes the arthritis in my knees play up something fierce, i could even deal with the snow but i'm desperate not to feel the cold anymore, i'd gotten so used to being able to walk properly after a months reprieve from it :p

Am off out at the weekend to raid my nearest Asian store - thanks for all your brilliant suggestions. The rock hard butter beans made me smile, don't do what i did the other day and soak some beans, forget all about them and end up having to throw them out as the looked err grim to say the least!

Am a bit lentil mad at the mo, can't get enough of them. Have planted some spinich read for salads, these lighter nights are getting me in the veggi growing mood. Wilkos seeds are back in store and super cheap 49p for some packets.

What do you reckon then? Is Winter over yet? Other than the bad spell before Christmas, we haven't had it too bad here in the Midlands. Also from all the doom & gloom in the media I was expecting a Winter Of Discontent, and so far there hasn't been any strikes, shortages or electricy/gas cuts - Thank Goodness. I guess I should be counting my blessings:D

It does feel like Spring Athome1! We've got daffodils in bud here and it's been quite mild, 7C - 10C most days. But I know we've had cold snaps with snow as late as March and April so I'm not going to get complacent yet! :)
Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far! :)
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!

It's 5.20 p.m. as I type and the sky is still light. That in itself is enough to lift my spirits, although the snowdrops are out too. Won't be long before I'm assembling my little mini plastic greenhouse after its spell in winter storage, and then I'll really be on my way!
