We have a forecast of +12ºC for this Thursday. Unbelievable, when I worked out that less than three weeks ago the temperature here at night was minus thirteen ºC. What must it do to the wildlife, particularly those creatures who are hibernating? It could be back to snow before the month is out. Our greengrocer had no fruit and veg on his outside racks this week, they're all straining under the weight of seeds and peanuts for the birds.

Hi Suki, yes it's twin wall flue - as you can see we have no chimney, so it's absurd looking especially on such a small stove! However, it looks much better sprayed than not. The guys that put the stove in painted it with stove black paint, and left me a tin for touch ups.

Are we all enjoying the respite - ie the mild weather! I know I certainly am except that I am too hot in bed at night! The only thing I miss about the cold weather was the chance to use a hot water bottle:rotfl:

Yes we have a respite here as well, the roads are finally clear of snow ice and grit, now we play dodge the pot holes and the car is getting ruined with stone chips

But Im not sitting on my laurels - the cold is due back and Im getting ready. Already had a double delivery of coal and another double delivery coming next week. Stocked up on fire lighters and kindlers again ( so many of them are wet so need to be bought well in advance). And I shall be stocking up this weekend with the store cupboard essentials.

I have a plumber coming asap to tighten the pipes on the boiler - we sprung a wee drip in the last cold spell. Its not causing a problem right now but Im sure the minute the snow arrives so will the boiler pack up

And Ive taken up crochet to keep me occupied the long evenings

It's a real treat having it so mild, I've been able to turn the heating right down thankfully. The bill will be horrific none the less.

I am never hot in bed, even abroad I frequently have to have a blanket. Oh calls me a reptile, well he would wouldn't he?

Prayers for those in Australia, any weather is better than that.

I have just been asked to do a meter reading for my gas and elec bill which is due on 27th Jan. Eon have told me from these meter readings that I am £33 in debit - having had £303 already in the kitty paid to them via direct debt - making a £336 bill for Oct, Nov, Dec and Jan! I am happy with that considering for most of that time our heating was uncontrollable (either on full blast or off!) and during the snow I wasn't skimping on the heating!
