We are desperately trying to find a way to get my oldest son from his flat in Edinburgh, down to the Border General hospital for an appt. He had to cancel the last one a few weeks ago because of snow, and he's in a lot of pain & doesn't want to cancel this one. The main road is clear but we can't get out of the village onto it to go ad fetch him. He's just sitting in the bus station in the hope that a bus materialises ! (got arthritis or something in his feet, can't walk far without a lot of pain).
Would be nice at this time of year to have a couple of 4x4 taxis that can operate in this kind of weather.Thriftkitten

Daughter got a 4x4 TK, but Edinburgh is a long way from us and also seemingly Edinburgh streets are a nightmare, white and not gritted. He still sat in the bus station patiently waiting and drinking coffee0

We've had about six inches of snow on the Devon/Dorset border since the early hours of this morning and it's still tanking down now. Apparently there is more on the way to us....
Glad we picked up OH's mum this week. We have on problem with meds for the dog and may end up walking 5 miles each way to the vets if things don't improve.Piglet

The front has swirled ino the irish sea. Phew, it really is seat of pants stuff for the forecasters. They must be scrabbling to get their stuff ready for the news
I know - we're right in the middle of the Irish Sea and we got more snow last night  I hate it. I keep checking the local weather forecast, and it's constantly changing. Now they've forecast snow over the next couple of days.NooooooooooooooooooooI want some snow :stampsfeet:

Good luck with your interview sexkitten and hope the boiler just decides to work again by itself!
So much for preparations eh? I've lain awake since 4am because DH has invited his son to stay with us on Christmas Eve. He doesn't know what mayhem he's caused, we were just going to give him money in an envelope but now I'm thinking what are we going to do on Christmas Eve with a quiet (read uncommunicative!) 16 year old who isn't interested in anything? and I'll have to go out in the snow today to get him some pressies to open on Christmas morning. Can't really let him sit and watch us open ours can we? I know that it's the season of goodwill but I'm really fighting the urge to kill him (DH) as he sleeps....men! Any suggestions of 'things to do' and cheap gifts would be VERY welcome:) So far all I can think of is a dvd and takeaway. I had fancied a carol service at our local church but reckon that's cancelled now...
dont you just love those things that others expect us to be able to deal with at christmas - once he's away from his mates he'll probably be fine ! - why not still have a takaway and a sing at the carol service - come home and cook something for the next day - a pudding ? chocolate biscuits? something together - I've yet to meet the teenage boy who cant be bribed into niceness by his stomach
I'm often surprised how many people Know talk "around" teenagers so they couldnt join in a conversation if they wanted to - and they dont have the socilal skills to work around that - I m not saying at all that this is the case here but its often worth a thought
how about you all write down six things youd each like to do on scraps of paper - fold them up - and pick some out of a hat / bowl - set a time limit for each - so no-one gets to "veg all evening" - or freeze their but off too much sledging on binbags !
good luck:DFight Back - Be Happy0 -
