That's ok then
, I thought you meant Digby, Coningsby etc.
We are more rural/coastal than that, nearest shop is a good 5 mile drive/walk.
This morning or sometime last night cars have tried again to get out and are now abandoned in the lane.
I know forces personnel get ranted at for not going on duty so wouldn't have said anything if it was them. One of the boys friends dad is a PC in the RAF and has to report in at all sorts of funny times. My self & hubby; 2 sons (30 & 26). Hubby also a found daughter (37).
Eldest son has his own house with partner & her 2 children (11 & 10)
Youngest son & fiancé now have own house.
So we’re empty nesters.
Daughter married with 3 boys (12, 9 & 5).
My mother always served up leftovers we never knew what the original meal was. - Tracey Ulman0 -

i can just imagine edinburgh right now. the first winter after we'd moved to edinburgh, about 6 years ago now there was snow like this. my ex an i took my daughter then 3 sledging on the bottom slopes of arthurs seat right by pollock halls of residence. it was so deep she HAD to walk in our footsteps because it was about chest high for her and she has always been very tall for her age!
that particular area of edinburgh has a lot of wind tunnels, in fact anyone that has ever spent any time near the uni library will be able to contest to that fact! there were also horrid ones on the way to her school there brrrrr
saying that though, i'd love to be able to live there again... i just can't wait to be able to freeze my backside off standing on north bridge for the hogmanay festival again! the last year we went it was bitterly bitterly cold and windy so people just huddled in together, all strangers but friendly and at least a little sensible despite the general drunkeness
I'm right on the coast and the salt air usually calms our weather but not this time, we have snow agin as I type, and its forcast for most of the dayMy self & hubby; 2 sons (30 & 26). Hubby also a found daughter (37).

We have the same here, school (High) was open Monday, then closed Tues and Weds and is open today after much more snow has fallen over the past 2 days (not Scotland/NE/Kent amounts but we are v hilly here so roads a bit dodgy)
The Junior school has not been shut once - tho is keeping registration open till 10am this morning so parents don't have to rush to get kids in!!!!!Donna
Economy; careful management; providence. Whether you call it thrifty or frugality it all comes down to getting more for your money.0 -
We had more during the night, quite a heavy fall. I'm watching the tractor from the farm - complete with two huge haybales lol - driving up & down our wee cul de sac to flatten the snow.
No post, no schools, no buses, no coalman, no binmen, no access to the main road again today. Not seen the postman since fri or sat and am waiting on Amazon xmas parcels...
Road from the village onto the main road is lined nose to tail by abandoned cars that are just wee humps in the snow & havent a hope of getting out anytime soon.
Amazingly beautiful world, pure white land and pink sky. Icicles hanging from my rones with wee birds clinging to them, waiting for me to put rich tea biscs out on the windowsills0 -
Mardatha - I can just imagine the scene you described. Actually makes me feel all warm and cosy inside. Thank you xMFW 1/5/08 £45,789 Cleared mortgage 1/02/13

I have just been outside in the snow to check on my girls (8 chickens) and it is actually warm....or could that be because i work as volunteer for the BHF i bought 2 Regatta jackets and have them both on:rotfl::rotfl:. One is a fleece and 1 is a soft shell jacket and both are wind proof, they are brilliant.
I think it must be really cold outside as my poor chooks try and run indoors everytime i go out to them

i was researching electric heaters and a lot of people say that they all cost the same to run technicallyBUT was told oil filled hold their heat a bit longer after switched off as the oil holds the heat - i have a small one from Netto and i beg to differ it goes cold minutes after switching off >:( so i don't think it makes much difference
i just don't like convectors and fans as the hot air smells funny lol
