Preparing for winter II
Comments

Hi all,
Hope everyone's keeping warm - thanks to discovering this thread I'm alot more prepared for the cold weather than I was last winter
Just been in DD's room and there's a terrible draught coming from her double glazed window. Quality of the window is rubbish, but as we rent there's nothing I can do!
I've read on here about people using tape for draughty windows, I can't find it now though!!!
Any ideas what I can use? It's just round the edge on one side. We've replaced the seal, but the actual window doesn't appear to be sitting flush.
Be grateful for any suggestions x96 items decluttered so far in 20130 -
Kittie. Hope you dont mind me asking what the style name is of your new boots. Im looking for a comfortable pair myself. Ive looked at some Doc Martens called Mel Delia which look comfortable.
Lots of snow here so Ive dug out my wee lantern and wind up torch etc. The torch charges a phone Im sure but not sure where I put the bits.
jenny in a brown. Lovely too0 -
frugal, I am burning a big yankee candle in a jar with a draught top sitting on the top. It is lovely but it also keeps the chill off. Maybe one would work for you. It is very safe and burns for over 100 hours0

Do you have any bubblewrap or plastic that you can put there in the meantime? Even a few plastic shopping bags or a folded dish towel. Even if you secure it for now, with some blue tack or gaffer tape:), until you can do something more permanent.Felines are my favourite

Thank you! Wasn't sure if there was a specific draught proofing tape I could use, but blue tack stuffed in with a strip of gaffer tape over the top sounds like a good plan
Thank you again!96 items decluttered so far in 20130 -

if it's a noticeable gap try rolling up some bubble wrap, using a butter knife or pallet knife to push it into the hole and then you can seal over that with duct tape/gaffer tape
i have personally used rolled up packing paper stuffed into gaps in my window frame with success, no tape needed which is just as well as the windows are wooden and painted so the tape would ruin the finish when i pulled it off... best of luck!0 -
