Preparing for winter II
Comments
-
We had frost last night, which has reminded me to lay in stocks of salt for the paths. Last winter the nearest shop (local tiny village shop five miles away) ran out of salt as everyone bought it up to use for that!
In an emergency, for traction in snow, I can put down some of the fireplace ashes but when the snow thaws that leaves an awful (sometimes rock hard) mess to clear up."Ignore the eejits...it saves your blood pressure and drives `em nuts!"0 -

I will get more kale seeds, because its the only green thing that survived the cold. And if I nuke it and liquidise it and stamp on it and smack it really hard - (cruelty to kale/kale torture) - then I cant taste it !0

it's meant to be sunny here but it's not
really wanted it to be sunny and a lot warmer than it is - our grass is in desperate need of being cut and i don't want to go out and do it in the cold!!!
either way i think it will get done today as more than likely it's the last time it will get done this year!0 -

(Tip: I put covers on them both, bought a cheap satin duvet cover for the 4tog so if it gets too hot, give it a tug and it slides off the bed) and a 16 tog for when it's freezing. It also means I have a spare when visitors stay over.

I have just done similar for both boys they now have double quilts on single beds, bought the split quilt so they have the thicker one close to them then the thinner summer one in a contrasting cover on top which can easily be taken off if too hot.
the single summer quilts they had are now going underneath their fitted sheets to provide extra insulation from below. My self & hubby; 2 sons (30 & 26). Hubby also a found daughter (37).
Eldest son has his own house with partner & her 2 children (11 & 10)
Youngest son & fiancé now have own house.
So we’re empty nesters.
Daughter married with 3 boys (12, 9 & 5).
My mother always served up leftovers we never knew what the original meal was. - Tracey Ulman0 -

awww you poor thing!
a way i eat kale that makes it meaty and pleasant tasting is to steam it then add a bit of butter and some of the grated italian cheese you get in a canister (asda sells it, if you can't find that then you can use grated parmesan but the italian stuff has a stronger flavour)
if that isn't enough try sprinkling some of knorrs chicken granules over it too (i swear they make almost anything savoury taste so darn good!) you can get those from asda too, they come in a wee metal tin...
mmm now i want kale!0 -
