We're doing Christmas hamper makings this w/e, I'll be happy once they're all put together and wrapped up
Good luck with your applications OneSpike - keep us updated won't you?
I think apart from the 2 x biggies (mountain bikes for the girls) I'm almost sorted chrimbo wise. Am buying them on Credit card though and paying a third this month, then third next and a third in Feb. Hopefully that won't be too bad.

Hi guys!
I am here and very sorry I've not been on for a week or so!
Congratulations Brassic on the job :T it's wonderful news! I'm very very happy for you. Things seem to be on the turn for you hun and before you know it you will have a big fat redundancy cheque in one hand and a nice bank charges one in the other
I have given myself the big kick up the bum I needed (very difficult to get my leg around!) and think I'm back on track. However I do have quite an expensive weekend coming up, BF and I are off to the horse races! I have known about this for some time though and budgeted for it I'm allowing myself £2 per race and I think there are about 6 races in all. It's for a friend of ours birthday and we didn't have to pay for the tickets so I would probably spend more if I just went out for a meal.
Glad to see you are very organised with your Christmas shopping. This is the first year I have been a DFW christmas shopper and I can't believe the difference it makes! Lots of children in my family, (unfortunately none of them are mine but maybe one day) but I've spoken to all the parents and told them I won't be buying at christmas but I will get them something nice for each birthday.everyone was really nice and understanding.
I've bought a couple of gifts now all over the internet and through quidco after searching each item to find where I could buy it the cheapest! I'm actually really enjoying doing it
Only have one little problem, I have to go to a very posh New Years Eve bash. It's tuxedo's and gowns. I do not do gowns! I live in jeans and I don't want to spend lots of money on a dress I'm only ever going to wear once. Any ideas?0 -
Hi Owessomuch! Good to see you back.
Glad you're back on track - you did make me laugh with your bum commentSounds like you're having fun with the Christmas shopping too. The kids are so excited about making the hampers this w/e - think they're going to be tasked with making the chocolate spoons - hmmm, could end up costing me more in chocolate than the hamper though....
Wrt frock - either ;
a) Borrow from a mate (No good for me as I'm 5'9 size 8 atm which seems to be tough to get hold of.)
b) Go through the charity shops - dunno where you live but where I used to live I found if I went to charity shops in nearby *posh* towns like Henley on Thames you could pick up some lovely designer bargains
c) Ebay for it - Bit dodgy getting the right fit though I guess.
d) Go to newlook or primark - you can always doll them up with some nice accessories found in either a b or c

Brassic wrote:Talking of quidco I'm having a wine dilema atm. Am just trying to decide whether or not to buy a case of it. Virgin are doing 20 quid off first orders, plus I get 10% cashback from quidco, so with £5.99 delivery it works out at 3.50 a bottle which isn't too shabby.

Thanks for the great ideas. Primark was going to be my next stop, I'm very lucky because my mum is a bit of a whizz with needle and cotton so maybe jazzing up something cheap is a great idea.
Can I just say 5'9 and size 8!! I don't know what you were worried about finding a job for, just get to your closest modeling agency hun!0 -

Hi Brassic, how are you?
Well I'm not any better off from my trip to the races! It was a really good night though and I stuck to my budget although it was very tempting not to!
I thought I would pop on and say Hi because I'm about to help my mum with some internet Christmas shopping and she's very scared of computers.
Well I've still got the bug of Christmas shopping but my car started to make a very horrible noise earlier so I'm now fearing that it is going to go bang!
Hopefully it will last until the weekend because I won't have the chance to get to a garage before then. I now have visions of all my Christmas shopping money going on a big bill
I also keep spotting great gifts for my BF that I wish I was rich enough to buy. Maybe oneday.......say 2014!!:p
Anyway I'd better get going, speak to you soon0 -
Fingers crossed your car doens't go bang
I'm having a bit of a down day. Opened my salary slip to find I've paid 150 quid more tax than usual. Turns out the IR decided to add on untaxed earnings I made year before last, in the hope I'd do it again. They're going to adjust it next month but why oh why do they do this in DECEMBER!?! Rah!
Am really really hoping today that I find out about the redundancy. I have a con call meeting with big cheese in 2 hours time so fingers crossed we get something sorted.I now have a start date for my new job - 8/01/2007, so I really need to get things moving, cos I am supposed to give 4 weeks notice. :O
In the mean time, had a very productive w/e. I've included piccies below - just cos I'm feeling quite proudDebts @ lightbulb moment (13/06/2006) - £59,842.23  All commercial debts now clear!!! :T Debts April - £20,000 to family (incl extra £10k borrowed for house deposit). DFD - Aug 2014
