Hey everyone!
Been away for a while and very much like you Brassic I've been in the sand! Which I now feel like a complete idiot about
Firstly can I just say congratluations on the interview, it's today so I really hope it went well for you. Also good news that the bank have at least acknowledged your charges claim but hold out until they pay back the full amount hun
I don't know what the hell I have been doing with my money since I got back from holiday. I need a very big kick up the bum (to match my very big bum!) I'm going to sit down after work and see whats going on and try and get on top of things.
Hello chevalier, don't believe I've chatted to you before
Anyway I'm off to do some work now and have a good think about the money situation.
See you later x0 -
Hi all,
Was pleased with how the interview went, thanks for asking Owesomuch, so now it's just a case of keeping fingers crossed til I find out on Friday.
Best go get the kids from school now.

Well hopefully tomorrow is D Day wrt the job interview I had on Monday. They said they'd let me know tomorrow, or Monday at the latest. Just found out though, I have landed another interview for a really good sounding job (although not as good as Mondays) ! Soooo, since I'm not sure whether I'll get the other one, I've said I'll go along to it. Fingers crossed SOMETHING works out
In the mean time, I've filed my claim against my bank to get my charges back. Really hoping that works out as it'd be a nice portion of debt paid off, especially as I'm not going to be able to sell my car now as I'd hoped as I'll need it to get to work.
Talking of work, have chatted to UK boss and he is shocked at what US boss said to me, and thinks I have a good case for redundancy. He's referred me upline several levels to Big Cheese in US, and has intimated that after talking to him himself, Big Cheese agrees that redundancy is the way to go. Will talk to him myself next week so fingers crossed that he does, and that the package is good.
Right, that's about it for the moment, pls keep fingers crossed that I get a really nice positive phone call tomorrow - (and that I find my mobile phone before tomorrow too  )Debts @ lightbulb moment (13/06/2006) - £59,842.23  All commercial debts now clear!!! :T Debts April - £20,000 to family (incl extra £10k borrowed for house deposit). I got the job!! I'm soooo chuffed it's untrue :j :j :j Pretty soon I will be a Force Control Room Operative. :T
Paperwork to follow, but I expect to start in the new year. Just hope I get the redundancy sorted before I have to hand in my notice
Lady said I flew through the interview, and got way above any one else in the tests we did
Not sure whether I'm going to have more money coming in, as although the salary is slightly higher pro rata, I'm going to have more childcare costs as I'll be working longer hours. Won't know until I get some quotes but shouldn't be much in it I don't think.
Any hoo, Beers are on me  You'll just have to enjoy them for me though, as I'm rushing out to my evening bar job now. Went out to get dd1's b'day prezzie on Sunday. This is what we ended up buying.
2 x jumbo colouring books (for stockings) - £2
3 x fluffy butterfly pens (for stockings) - £1
3 x packs of chocolates (for stockings) - £3
1 x jumbo pack of crayons (for childminding venture) - £1
1 x pack of hair clips/bands/scrunchies etc (for stockings) - £1
1 x pack of 24 mini candles (for hampers) - £1
1 x clothes horse (my leccy bill is huge this month so I want to not use tumble drier anymore - £9.99
1 x pack of 4 craft packs (2 for dd1s b'day, 2 for chrimbo) - £12.99
2 x cards - £3.
Total - £24.98
And today I spent 12.99 in the charity shop on a coat for me (needed a waterproof one as I don't use the car anymore (advertised it in local rag last week to come out this week as man down pub wouldn't pay enough  ))
On the plus side, the first £9 came out of my tips from the pub - result!
So, still hadn't got dd1s b'day prezzie - but a man in the pub who works for people in the knowthinks he can help us with that one, so hopefully that's sorted too <mops brow>
On the continuing Chrimbo theme, got dd3's prezzie sorted - a trike from a friend who bought it new and hasn't had it long - £10. Gonna get her a loada lego from another friend and a couple of other bits and bobs so she'll be done and dusted.
Need to get dd2 a bike, but haven't sorted it out yet  , and so far no idea what to get football mad, musical, arty and creative 8 year old dd1! Waahh. Hubby'll get what he's givenand everyone else is getting hampers which we're in the process of doing (doing PYO fruit on Thursday to get some plums to do the plum jam). Dinner is at inlaws, already have decorations, so will just need a tree and we'll be sorted. :j Oh, and spending next weekend making Christmas puds - yay :j
How are you getting on Owesomuch? I guess you're on holiday now - hope you're having a fab time!
Sounds to me like you did pretty well! Just wondering re your 8 yr old, have you thought about a subscription to a magazine called Make It Groovy? It's full of art and craft projects aimed at her age group and it comes with the main bits you need. My SD's grandmother used to send it to her and it was the highlight of the month when it arrived! She got it once a month but it might come out more frequently.
Our 4 yr old is getting a magnetic noticeboard (Freecycle!), set of Betty Spaghetti dolls (eBay), if we get it organised a swing we got on Freecycle but haven't yet put together, need to do that in our neighbour's garden for obvious reasons! We've also got her (and SD and my mother!) a set of gel window shapes we bought at the garden centre with garden vouhcers we were given as a wedding present. Stocking fillers so far include spherical smiley-face (car but who cares!) air conditioners bought from Halfords for SD and MIL who are both smiley-face mad, Christmas mugs that were going cheap in Woollies pre-LBM and a box of Miffy tissues, also pre-LBM. I'll also be spraying around the chocolate we bought in Switzerland this summer! If you can't be a good example, be a dire warning

Thanks for the tip wrt magazine subscription - am going to take a look on quidco to see if I can get it through there.
Talking of quidco I'm having a wine dilema atm. Am just trying to decide whether or not to buy a case of it. Virgin are doing 20 quid off first orders, plus I get 10% cashback from quidco, so with £5.99 delivery it works out at 3.50 a bottle which isn't too shabby. Could ebay for one of those wine pumpers to make the bottles last longer - we're not big drinkers so they tend to go off if we're not careful which is another reason we've stuck to boxes until now. I'd use the credit card - transfer half straight away, then half next month. Sorted. What do y'all reckon, Deal, or No Deal
Still in talks wrt redundancy, big American Cheese man can't speak to me til next Tuesday which has eked it out a bitBut I've emailed the original boss to try to get him to confirm what he said in our original conversation - see if that helps.
Cheers all - back to work for me now, have got deadlines to meet and code to write, being addicted to this board really doens't help eitherDebts @ lightbulb moment (13/06/2006) - £59,842.23  All commercial debts now clear!!! :T Debts April - £20,000 to family (incl extra £10k borrowed for house deposit). RAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!
I'm bored - and deeply tired too. Have been working very hard recently. Sunday came home from pub shift at 11:15pm, then started working on my current software project for day job until 4:15am. Did until 5am this morning, and am looking at a long stint tonight - not helped by the fact that the server seems to have morphed into a sloth when I wasn't looking it's so damn slow
Had a great day today with regards to Christmas shopping in a debt free wannabe way. Went to a charity shop and bought the following
3 x videos - one each for the girls.
2 x pc fun learning games - one each for the older girls.
1 x interactive song and dance dvd for dd3.
1 x present for dh which I can't write cos he's sat behind me - but am well chuffed with it.
All for £11! :j
Then went to another shop and managed to get one of those tea pot sets that's a single serving tea pot and cup all in one for my auntie's b'day which is just after chrimbo. She's cat mad and this is in the shape of a cat - bnib for £8.50. :T
Oh - and I got 64 quids worth of shopping from Tescos for £52 including free mince pies
Am waiting with baited breath on whether bank will acknowlege claim for charges, and also whether current company will give me redundancy pay. It's all getting very tight timing wise as my paperwork for new job should be arriving any day
<yawn> Best get back to the grindstone. Owesomuch - are you out there - how is your route to debt free-ness going? Are you on track with all this Chrimbo stuff coming up?Debts @ lightbulb moment (13/06/2006) - £59,842.23  All commercial debts now clear!!! :T Debts April - £20,000 to family (incl extra £10k borrowed for house deposit). Gosh all very satisfying
I don't think we have a Christmas present budget as such, which is a bit hairy. I'm sort of doing the head-sand routine atm, heck it's not even December yet
Hope things work out with the job paperwork. I have a few applications in atm so we'll see if owt comes of 'em. You sound very cheery and pleased with things, which is always great to hearIf you can't be a good example, be a dire warning
