Hi everyone, happy new year! Hope you all had a great Christmas.

We did, we spent it at hubby's familys and it was lovely being spoilt :) Hubby and I stuck to our 10 pound budget for each other, and he managed to get me a mortar and pestle, and a punch bag for that  :T I'm so chuffed, although the kids are a bit wary of my work out sessions in the kitchen now! :rotfl:

January is going to be interesting to say the least, as we have a £10 budget for food and toiletries/cleaning products, and £10 for the gas and electrics. First week is going ok so far though, we haven't starved yet, or frozen :)

We've managed to borrow my fil's car too until we find a small enough and cheap enough one to buy for ourselves, and the money is stashed away for that time.

We're a step further with reclaiming our bank charges, sent in my Allocation Questionaire today. Not sure where the 100 quid is coming from mind you  Still got to figure that one out.

Work still haven't got their act together. According to payroll I'm still going to be paid this month (I get paid in advance so that's very wrong) and they still haven't told me that my leave date (of the end of the week) is acceptable  They are a blue chip company, I can't believe such a fiasco! Oh well, I'm going to stick the money in my flexible loan account to save on some interest until they demand it back!

Right, enough blathering from me. Gonna get an early night I think as I'm working in the bar tomorrow :( Had kinda got used to not doing that for a week or so.

    Ciao!

Sounds good to me! I have a very competitive streak so a race would probably spur me on no end!

Hope you are well. I have been battling around this debt and snowballs and more snowballs etc for the last few days and feel as though my head is going to burst.

But, anyway, have just totted up the figures to take into account the latest lot of repayments and I am now below the £50,000 mark! A very important psychological barrier, and hopefully one which will spur me on to get some more on ebay to reduce it further!

    How are you getting on?

  • Hi Guys, long time no speak.

I've not been on for ages as I have been working every hour God sends!

A bit of a strange start back to work in the New Year, we have been told that we are joining up with another company which means big changes. I have been told my job is safe but I can't help but worry that I'm not being told the whole story. This is why I have been working so many hours while I still have the chance to ;)

I can't say I'm not tired but I am so broke at the moment that I need to find as much money as possible just to live for the week :( after my direct debits are taken and bills are paid I am left with £10 to last me a week which I have to buy my petrol from, that alone is £30

On the plus side though along with all the hours I really have been a good girl this week :D, I have made my lunch for work everyday which I know is not a big deal for most but it is quite an achievement for me. Still bought my cigarettes every day though :o (I know, I know I really do need to kick the filthy habit)

Brassic, any news on the redundancy/bank charges?

Hi hypno06 don't think we've spoken before. Congratulations on hitting the sub £50k mark that is a great achievement :T I'm hoping this will be the year that I go under the £40k mark which at the moment is possible if I stick to things like last year. I'm actually hoping to pay off £10k this year so fingers crossed :)
I notice from your signature that your debt has reduced dramatically from what it was, well done. What's your secret?

Anyway guy's I'm off for a long hot bath and a face pack then a nice early night with my book (I bet I'm making everyone jealous with my rock n roll lifestyle )

    Speak soon

Hi Owesomuch! I too am aiming to get to below 40k this year. I have a claim in for £4500 bank charges so am hoping that this will come through and will help me well on my way!

As for the amount I paid off so far - well, some came from a successful £3000 bank charge reclaim, and some from sheer hard work, but I cannot take the credit for all of it because unfortunately I lost my Dad almost 2 years ago and received some money from the sale of his house which I bunged straight off the debt.

It is losing him that was really my lightbulb moment I suppose - I knew that the chance to pay off an amount like that would never come again (and I would much rather this particular method had never come about in the first place) so I feel as though I owe it to him to become debt free and, with the exception of a normal mortgage, to stay that way.

So, for the remainder of my debt free journey it is hard work all the way!!!

Good job the children like pasta!!!!!

  • Hi Hypno06

I'm very sorry about what happened, and I'm sorry if me asking bought back any bad memories. I didn't mean to be so nosey.

Great news on the bank charges, I also claimed mine back and won. I've also helped about 10 of my friends and family with their claims.

You seem very determined so I'm positive you will reach the sub £40k mark this year :)

    Brassic how's things with ?

Must go and do some work now :o speak soon.
