Thanks for the thought, but I am self employed so no contribution other than perhaps getting some of it offset against tax in due course.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. Hi Guys!
I have some exciting news! Hubby won his first tenner doing matched betting!!!!:j :j  I'm really pleased/proud/excited  He's doing brilliantly actually as he's just been out and come home with 4 mini french bread batons for lunch tomorrow for the grand sum of 7p, and a lovely rustic loaf for 11p. He's getting good at this game - and he came back so proud bless him
Car is being picked up tomorrow <gulp> I dread to think what it's going to cost, but it has to be done as father in law needs his car backKeep fingers crossed it's something minor please.
Hypno - up til my change of job this month I worked from home. I too used to get freezing but couldn't afford heating on so used to sit with one of the kids duvets wrapped round me which used to work a treat!
Owesomuch - so glad your boyfriend has seen sense  Good luck with the interview on Saturday - let me know how you get on!
I sent my claim form off today to get the first part of my mobile phone bill back - fingers crossed I did it right - the money will be very useful. Still waiting for the court date wrt bank charges though
Take care all,

Glad to see that things are a little brighter today :j Fingers crossed for the car tomorrow.
I have added up our ebay/amazon totals for January, and it is a fraction under £400. So, if we can do that every month, we will make a good dent in our debt. Easy isn't itPerhaps I ought to try matched betting instead, although at the moment it confuses me every time I read about it!!

Hi Hypno - well done on the ebaying - is that just stuff from round the house? I'm kind of ok on the matched betting, but secretly glad that hubby has taken it and run with it
Car is still with the garage atm - apparently it's an injectorNo idea what that is, but it sounds expensive.

Hi Brassic - sorry to hear the car is still poorly. I have absolutely no idea when it comes to cars and I have to rely on others completely. So an injector sounds expensive to me but then, so does everything!! If you think of it as being really high cost, then you may well be nicely surprised when the bill comes in.
Ebay stuff is a mixture of hoarded stuff that we should have got rid of long ago (old ski boots when the kids got new ones as their feet grew, clothes etc), some of the bizarre things that I discovered from this board such as old car tax discs, vouchers and empty printer cartridges, and some things that I am finally beginning to sort out from my Dad's house. When he died I couldn't face sorting stuff (other than stuff to divide between family for sentimental reasons etc) so it is all in my garage. I have such things as his ironing board and hoover - stuff that is neither sentimental nor useful to me (how many ironing boards does a girl need!) so bit by bit I am getting through them finally.
The only thihg with ebay is that sometimes there is an awful lot of effort for little return - we sold a mirror for example that after paypal and listing etc netted us 29p. We would have got at least a couple of quid at a car boot sale so we are learning with it all the time!
I am going to allocate a day next week to try and crack the matched betting thing. I think I am missing out on too much here. If I can get even £50 a month from it every month, that will bring my DFD forward by 6 months! Got to be worth doing.
Yesterday I began the latest stage of Hypno v Barclays - they made their standard £1000 offer - less than 25% of my claim so NO GO! The thought of taking one of the UK's biggest corporations to court is slightly nervewracking but hey, we all need a challenge once in a while :rotfl: after all, I have nothing else to worry about :rotfl:
Good luck with the car, and keep smiling!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Hi Guy's
I'm having the worst day ever!
I went to the bank as planned but it was a complete waste of time. Every way I thought I could try and save some money they had a way of getting more out of me
Now to add insult to injury I've just snowballed again and my debt free date has gone up by six months:mad:
I don't know how this has happened or what I can do about it. My life lately revolves around thinking about my debt and I just can't snap out of it. Life is far to short to be sad about this but I really am.
My BF has to go away for a month at the end of this week for work so that's also upsetting me.
Sorry this is such a depressing thread guy's but your the only ones I can talk to about this and it's also nice to get it off my chest.
On a positive note you both seem to be doing well. Great news Hypno on the ebay sales and Brassic I'm really glad you hubby is having some luck with the matched betting.I've tried no end of times to get my head around it but no joy!
I'll speak to you soon.

Oh owesomuch, I am sorry that today is a dark day for you. At least you know that you tried with the bank.
I am not having such a good day here, everyone I know is skiing and I so want to go but cannot afford it. I know I should not let it get to me but it has got a grip so hard!
We all have dark times, and the beauty of this site is that we all understand. We will get there and we will have one heck of a party when we do. In the mean time, dig in, and keep going xxSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. Awww, owesomuch, sounds like you're having a rough old time of it atm
Have a virtual hug! I'm so sorry that the bank couldn't help you out as you'd hoped, but I'm sure there will be other options for you. Bad news about your boyfriend having to go away too, these things always happen at the worst times.
You'll be able to get your dfd back again before you know it owesomuch, keep your chin up!
We've had some good news, hubby has had a really good bonus, and a payrise as well, so we're feeling a bit more positive. We've been able to get the car fixed (240 quid) and once the money comes through we'll be able to put the bonus towards some of our debts. :j
Take care,
