Well done, owesomuch - that's fantastic news! :D I've been really busy with new job recently, but today I got my court date through for my bank charges - 30th April!! Yay! Hubby has also been told he's due for a payrise so we're really hoping to stay on top of things from here.

    Cheers,

Hi There affordmylife, well, to get an update on my debts and progress, head over to my diary "hypno's kick up the backside debt diary" where it gives you the highs and the lows!

As for Owesomuch - posts are dotted here and there I think, but because this one was Brassic's post really and she isn't actively posting at the moment, they have sort of got "lost" in other threads, I think.

Brassic is ok, like others taking a bit of a back seat from DFW but still lurks!

I would love Brassic to come back and post again - she was my original inspiration when I joined these fab boards, so B if you are lurking, pop back on!!

    Hi Guys!

Wow - Love the new look of the website! It's looking great! :money:

I've been away for a while - doing my periodic bury my head in the sand bit that it seems I have to do at least once a year, but also getting to grips with my new job which has long shift hours to get used to. <yawn>

However, back in the groove now, hopefully - so thought I'd drop in and say Hi, and give you a very quick update.

I've got all my figures back on track just about - just waiting for the few bits and bobs that hubby needs to update me on which he promises he'll do tomorrow. Fortunately, even with the new debt taken into account - we've gone down and by August will be under the 50k marker. Whoo hoo. :j Not good enough for me however, and have lots of plans on how to reduce it further. Quidco should be paying me 120 quid at the end of the month - and as the ad says, every little helps :)

Shopping is high this month as I have bulk bought a number of things again which should last a while. However, included in there is piriton costs (high) - as I am suffering BAD with hayfever atm <achooo!> and about 10 different showergels as I've developed a sudden allergy to just about all of them

My veggie plans have been blighted somewhat by slugs, as the little bu**ers have eaten all my lettuce and beans <sob> but I'm loving cooking with my fresh herbs, and I still have an abundance of carrots and onions to look forwards to. Fruit wise we're not getting far as my strawberry plant has produced the grand total of 1 strawberry (although even that delighted the kids) but maybe we'll have better luck next year.

Right, I could waffle for ever, but won't (you'll be glad to hear). Hoping to be on a bit more from now on.

    Take care all,
    Brassic

Hi Brassic - good to have you back! To get under the £50k mark will be a huge boost psychologically and you will soon be ploughing through stuff!

Hope the new job is going well.

Re the strawberries, last year we only had one, which the birds ate, but this year we have a really good number of fruits. So don't expect too much this year but get ready for a bumper crop next time round!

Keep on posting, now that you are back, it will be great to hear how you are getting on.

    Hi All,

I know this thread was started a while ago-Way before I joined, but look at the amount of debt I have!!! Can I join you in the motivation stakes and join you all?

    Thanks Laura :)

Of course you can Laura!! The more the merrier! :T Please keep posting and hopefully we can give each other the motivation to keep going and not get left behind.

I am fully comitted and determined that June 2011 is the absolute latest which I will have any debt (apart from mortgage). I'm desperately trying to catch up with hypno but she's going great guns now so I think I'm fighting a losing battle! :T

I had a minor set back today. I'd been feeling fairly virtuous that I had cleaned my bathroom from top to bottom, and done a lot sorting etc, until I came out of my bedroom to find my nearly (but now might not make it to) 2 year old holding part of my glasses in one hand, and part in the other. To her credit, as soon as I came out all she said was sorry mummy, (awww), but the darn things are just so expensive. I know about the online thing but I just have to be able to try them on as I wear them nearly all the time, and if they're uncomfortable I'll have to replace them. I've downloaded the free eyecare test, but I need them before my next shift set (starts Sat) so may just have to go with whatever appointment I can get. Gahhhh!

Anyway - hope everyone had a good day today despite the rain, it wasn't a nsd for me, but I didn't do too bad.

    Cheers,
    Brassic

Meant to say, I've also made a pact with hubby to try to put 1100 towards bills every month. We're definitely doing 1000 - the challenge is the extra 100 from bits like ebay, quidco, match betting etc. That's 13200 in the year  I'm going to log off in a minute and make up a monthly chart that we can colour in so everyone in the family knows whether we're on target or not. I'll stick something in my sig too I expect :)

I'd love to join too, if that's ok. It's a big mountain but it didn't get that way overnight so I need some support to get my life back. DH is brilliant - truly. I am in charge of the money side of things and let thing slide big time when the going got tough (we were scammed....) The debt does not include this - it is just the consequences of it - we are in the process of getting it back but it is taking a long time.....

Recently went back to work in the City of London after a 5 year absence following redundancy. It's good to be back to earning good money but the hours are awful.

I have a sticky few weeks ahead - have to pay for our holiday - thought the compensation would be in by now but it's not so have to find £1558 by July 1. Also, somehow managed to miss a mortgage payment when I changed payment dates - they are not happy and I am going to have to pay that on top of my usual monthly mortgage of £1250 very soon.

On the plus side - I do have a job - have been back in the saddle for since Jan and am just about to be told I have passed my 'probation' and am finally permenant. I have just read the thread about reclaiming bank charges and have realised that there are 9 companies that will be hearing from me shortly! I also have a house full of stuff to sell at boot sales/ebay and amazon. Never done any of those before so that will all be very interesting.

I have a million and one ideas - as a complete newbie (just started posting on 10 June) I am determined to the point of being a zealot about clearing this debt.

Also, I want to change my name from cdg1111 to Wealthy Woman - can I do that?

Thanks for all the amazing inspiration you are all giving me.
