    Thanks very much,

Just hit my first problem, been sorting out what bills need to be paid this week and I need to use some of next weeks wage to cover it :wall:

That's awful when it happens but once you get into the full swing of things, it will be easier, I promise. Hang in there :grouphug:

    2 positive things

1 - it's next weeks wages, not next months wages :j

2 - you have next weeks wages to use, meaning you have a job and can afford to pay it. :j

It will get easier with time and practise. While you are looking at this weeks bills, start the note for next weeks as well - don't think too hard, just start planning for them, I like planning - I just forget to execute the plans sometimes :o

:o I love planning too! Usually have three different ones for most eventualities! Not very effective.

  • Hi Brassic,

Did you have any luck selling the car? :)
  • Bah, didn't hear back so I assume not :( Fingers crossed someone else gets interested.

Am feeling a bit gutted actually, was so chuffed to pay off both credit cards, so was a little bit suprised to get a bill from them for 20 quid! Phoned them up and they told me I'd missed a payment, so I had 12 pounds of charges and 8 pounds of interest. Eh? I have a dd so how could I miss it? Apparently my dd was cancelled a few months ago (when I swapped bank accounts) and so I was in arrears. But get this, I asked when it was due, and in a very serious voice they told me that I should have paid on the 20th and I had paid the lot off on the 21st. Gaaaaaaahhhhhhh.

I got very politely unhappy with the lady and she told me they could drop half the costs. Hrmph. Better, but still a complete and utter rip off

I then phoned motor insurance company to get a replacement certificate as I'd lost mine and need to tax the car. They told me I'd have to pay 5 quid!! Since I'm selling my car I told them in that case I'd just take my husband off the policy knowing full well they'd have to send me out a certifcate for that, funnily enough they said they could send me out one foc in that case. :j

Lastly, just as I think I've got budget sorted, eldest dd comes home saying she's got through auditions for keyboard lessons (only 8 places available apparently) and thats 52 quid a term. It's annoying because I was never asked if I wanted her to have lessons, and she's already had 2 by the time I found out!!! We don't want to deny her good opportunities, but 52 quid is a lot of money for us :( Still haven't quite made up our mind, but I'd imagine we'll try and sort it out.

    Ah well, onwards and upwards.

  • I'm sorry that the car didn't work out.

Bloody CC companies are so cheeky about late payments. It annoys me because I always pay over the minimum payment each month but if you are a day late then the wack a charge on, they don't take into account that you have overpaid for so many months

I can't believe they let your daughter have the lessons without asking you first! I understand that you would not want to say No but like you say it's a lot of extra money to find.

    Keep your chin up!

Good things have surely got to happen to us soon ;)

Did you transfer accounts yourself or did the bank do it for you? ie who should have transferred the direct debit?

    How old is DD??

is there anyway she could do something to earn £1 a week to help pay for the lessons?

or do something around the house that you could pay her the money, something that would give you a little bit of free time?

or is she still really young??

  • Hi there, bank did it for me, but apparently, although they sent all the instructions out, the others (like my mortgage company  ) didn't act on them. However, when I phoned mortgage company they'd never received it. Oh well, I'm not likely to be changing again any time soon and it's sorted now.

DD is going to be 8 next month, they do chores already for stars, and if they get 10 stars they get 50p. I've aready had to tell them they can't do x, y and z that Billy, Bob, and Bobby do because we can't afford it, but I think it's quite important to get something like this started early. It also solves b'day present dilema as we can get her a keyboard for her b'day to practice on (off to check out prices on ebay soon). I guess it just means that I don't overpay so much to debts this month <mope>

It's difficult isn't it, cos you don't want to make your kids suffer for your past mistakes, yet I want to solve said mistakes asap so I can spoil them properly as soon as I can :)

    Cheers for the support guys!

P.S (on a slightly more upbeat note) - I've only just got a spreadsheet going that really works for us, so really looking forwards to October to see exactly how much we can save compared to September, and how much we can overpay on these pesky debts :j

Oh, and I have my first night off tonight since last Saturday and hubby is out on work golf and dinner jolly, so am soooooooo looking forwards to being in bed before 9 :rotfl: :j

    how frustrating

Check with the bank if they will pay back the other half of the money you owe for messing up?

Check on freecycle in your area for a keyboard, the one in my area has things like that on it, or request one and see if anyone has one going spare...

Hope you have a lovely relaxing evening

    Hey folks,

Owessomuch, how is it going - tis the beginning of a new month, everything reset, a chance to try and improve on last month. :)

I'm feeling rejuvenated despite being up about 5 times with poorly baby daughter, it was my turn for a lie in this morning and I made the most of it, finishing off with tea and crumpets in bed! Bliss. :):)

Started off with an up and a down. Got paid my first wage pack from my new pub job, 93 squiddlies for the week which I have transferred straight into the first cahoot loan - should go in on Monday. Yay!

On the downside - I got slightly carried away with the shopping - and spent 85 quid on the weekly shop  :O However, there is enough stuff there for sandwiches for the next couple of weeks, and toiletries for the month etc etc so hopefully it's not too bad.

Today I have to go buy a nieces b'day present - budgeted for. And also going to hopefully get some baskets and jars from the pound shops for my christmas hampers so I can start them - am quite excited actually!

Bad news is I didn't get time to do my tax returns in time - Hrmph. One year I'll do this before the end of September.

Good Luck for your October - may the overpayments be large :)
