1p finds at Tesco thread

I went through the entire list above at the Tesco Huddersfield town centre store. It took a couple of hours! It actually takes longer to make sure that something is not stocked than it does to find it if it is. Only two items from the list are stocked - the striped men's scarf and the Discount Brands plain chocolate. Both of these were full price, £5 and 91p respectively.
I thought I would save anyone else in Huddersfield the same trouble._______________________

Been watching for a while and a major thanks to the people who have posted 'bargains' on here0

Yes, similar experience in Tesco north shields. I can't say that I scoured every shelf for every item (thinking it a bit of fun rather than a serious venture), but did have a look for most items and they were not there. The only thing that was there (with the right barcode) was the Kilamanjaro coffee, and when tested on the working scanner in store, it scanned full price £3.79.
Two days previously I visited the store and saw them removing all of the coffees from the shelf (so I was quite surprised to see it back). I can't help thinking that all of the hoo-har has made the bargains more "shortlived" than they would have been otherwise.
Anyway, thought it would help anyone thinking of "doing" north shields. HTH, Sal x0 -
thanks for your posts! I managed to get 8 bags of coffee in Tesco Laudwater(they have some left but I didn't check the price recently) last week... I tried Tesco in High Wycombe(Eden) later but they didn't have any of the stuff
I so wanted to find the chocolates and shampoo but never mind... I also checked out 3 Sainsbury's in my area after the sea shells chocolates(0.32p) but none found... they're on their website but I'm not paying 6 pounds to deliver it...
Anyway why not keep it going and if any of us will be faster then the Tecos's stuff we'll still get some great bargains0 -
To MSE / Tesco / The Daily Mail
Guys please read all the posts on here, these are people who want to save money, not thieves as the stores would like to portray people having to sneek products through because of lack of staff training is not right!
MSE having read through this site the whole idea, I presume is Money Saving, so please work with the posters to help people not get in the position they have found themselves in, as in speak to the likes of tesco and side with the people on this forum.
Tesco, what are you playing at, you reduced the prices on these products not customers walking in, to treat people the way you have is disgusting and you have managed to change it around so you get some free publicity. If you are saying that it was not a computer glitch can you retrain your staff to make sure this does not happen again and as a gesture of good will can you go to your computer and post on this website everything that has a £0.01 price tag, as this then will clear the product from your shelf (If that was your intention as per the article in the Mail) it will also drive people into your store, as like myself and many others if we do not find bargains we pick up other products. I think personally through lack of training / management you have let down a lot of customers. Nobody on here was 'nicking' products they were going out to get a bargain. If you did not want to sell the product you could have sent a directive to every store to remove from the shelves, but just be honest!, not spin...
The Mail, always two sides and this seems to be an excerise in spin, perhaps you should follow up with a couple of people from this site,

In our store every till came up with a message saying that any item scanning for 1p is a mistake and should not be sold. I think sometimes the sales assistants are between a rock and a hard place, their managers are telling them not to sell these items and customers are saying they have to because they read it in the paper. While I'm sure there are dragon sales assistants that want to make your life miserable most of us just want to keep our jobs and have to abide by what our managers tell us rather than what a newspaper or website says. I didn't find any 1p bargains but if I had I'd have snuck one or two through the self service and been thrilled if I'd got away with it. If one came through my til I'd have followed instructions and called a member of management. Thats the way it is.Debt Free: 01/01/2020

The daily mail article, posted above, seems to disagree.
Does not mention anything about giving to charity, destroying the items.
As an earlier post suggested, if T don't want to sell these items for 1p, why don't they change the price on the system to £1000 for example?
Personally I think it is all down to either staff error or computer glitches, which tesco don't want to highlight any more than already has been done.

Believe what you will, but you weren't the one working, with 2 seperate people within 3 days demanding a Disney Hoodie for 1p. So, please don't tell me what happened in my place of work.
As for price conscious staff - when you are sent an email on the day of teh process happening, it takes a long time to locate items when you potentially have hundreds of thousands of items on the sales floor.[/QUOTE]
But surely the people on MSE armed only with a vague list of descriptions are finding these products among the thousands of items on the sales floor but trained staff can't.:D
Any chance this incessant knocking of Tesco staff might cease now? Most are hard working people just doing their jobs and are happy to help customers.
We should all be grateful too for those who take the time and trouble to post here to help us, seems like a thankless thing to do if you ask me. :T0
