Finding clothes for skinny child

Is there anyone that can advise me where I can get trousers to fit my daughter? She is nearly 4 but wears size 12-18 month knickers and is above average for height. Must of the adjustable trousers we have tried seem to balloon round the bum!:rotfl:

My boy is skinny - M&S sell elastic belts, and without them his trousers would constantly be down by his ankles. As for your daughter - put her in skirts...:rotfl::rotfl:

i have this problem and i thought i would get my son some skinny jeans, the legs are really good great fit but the waist is huge on them even with the waist adjusted, they just look weird.

dont get why they make them like that as anyone even slightly larger than my son wouldn't have got their legs in them so they didnt need to make the waist that huge

My little girl is exactly the same she is skinny with long legs so i can't buy her tights as in order for them to be long enough they are miles too big in the waist and just fall down!!!!!

I think my DD is average, she's almost 3ft 5 and 2 and a half stone (4) but she is still wearing skirts and dresses/tshirts/jackets/cardigans that are as low as 18months, I'm sure she'd be wearing more If I hadn't thrown certain clothes out in her earlier years to make room for new and bigger things.

I hate those elastic adjusted waists, handy but they bunch up at the bum and look silly!

H&M is good! The stuff is a bit hit and miss though, I bought DD tights there, I tend to buy bigger then her age in tights as once you tumble them they shrink, I bought 2 packets of age 4 - 6, one pair fit fine after coming out the tumble (and aren't low down her bum like last pair :rotfl:) but the other set  I can pull the waistband under her armpits and it's still got miles of material at the legs. I don't know how the sizes can differ so much?!

I agree with LilacPixie, DD lives in skirts/leggings/tights pretty much, she has a few pair of jeans (from h&m) and one pair is utility so they are tight at her ankles and don't trail on the floor when they fall down at least!

Her gran bought her jeans from Joules (omg the expense) and those are small made. She got her 4-5, I tumbled them by accident  and whilst fitting almost perfectly around the waist now, they are half masts!

I was in BHS yesterday and saw advertising that they had school clothes for all shapes. I didn't investigate, but it might be worth a look.

  • I find Gap jeans good, they have the adjustable waist but its not as bulky as some of them can be.

We mainly wear leggings under skirts/dresses though
