Also, invest in a Halti or a Gentle Leader for the Rotti. Castrating him won't make him walk on the lead properly. Both are fab inventions and so simple!

Well done emma for coming forward. We have crossed paths before
I am always awe struck by some of the people out there who literally give their lives over to the dogs. God bless xxx

The voice of common sense, a few of us here try and make this point often Emma. How I wish everyone would do this for their pet, it should be one of the first things on the list of to do things.

What wonderful news - OP do contact Emma ASAP!
Re: neutering - 8000 plus healthy dogs destroyed last year and rising... one thing is for sure, not one of of them was bred from dogs whose owners were responsible enough to get them neutered...
Sure, if you choose not to neuter and can manage your dog carefully and monitor it closely, and understand the risks that's your choice - but it is a job of work. Ultimately, how many people inderestimate the amount of managing this will take? How many people think 'just one litter wont hurt'... how many people let their dog onto the back garden unsupervised, only to find later it has been caught...?
However, as I said earlier its non negotiable for this girl - I very much expect she is at the very least uncomfortable, and perhaps even really suffering, even though dogs do tend to be stoical and instinctively hide the fact they are ill.0 -
I really hope that the op contacts Emma, ive sent her a pm to tell her to read post from Emma, if anyone knows the op can they let her know to contact Emma.
Would hate the pup to miss this chance.0 -
Slightly worrying no word from OP - hopefully they have contacted Emma direct.
You know I dont think people realise how persistent and driven a male entire dog is when he senses a female in season. One of our girls - the rottiexlab had her first season after we got her from rescue and a dog from the village, used to walk the 2 miles to us and then circle round the house all day. There was actually a path worn into the grass where he was constantly walking and whining. Obviously she was done a few weeks later but I actually felt sorry for that male dog.0 -
Haven't heard a word this end.
Foster home sorted though so now it is down to xoxo to make contact...

sorry didnt mean to hijack the thread, i really hope the doggie gets sorted out soon
Please do your research before taking any action. rotties have a significantly increased risk of bone cancer if they are neutered.
neutering may change the dogs personality in the sense that when the testosterone is removed it can cause problems for nervous dogs.
I am not at my own computer just now so can't post the research to back this up but there is lots of info out there in relation to an increased bone cancer risk in rotts from neutering and the role and impact of testosterone on male dogs.If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you always got!0 -
No offence meant, but this is a thread for people to help the op rehome the puppy. the debate on spaying/castrateing etc should be for another time and/or another thread.
Its more worrying that the op has not yet been in touch with Emma.0
