Thinking over the discussion about breakfast/rice pudding, I am going to experiment tomorrow morning with a brown rice/soya milk and sweetener breakfast. In the Tightwad Gazette Amy Dacyczyn describes trying brown rice instead of porridge. If it is successful, I could have a porridge like breakfast without using up part of a HEB. I will report back (I know it wouldn't be to everyone's taste).
I am also planning to come up with a couple of weeks of sample menus. I have fallen off the wagon over the past few days due to being so busy and not really planning ahead, so need some default plans if you see what I mean.
Good luck everyone, some great losses this week!

Good morning
I have decided to start SW today with the aim of losing 4st (13.5lb down to 9.5lb). I'm familiar with SW but that's all I'll say because this is a fresh start!
It's my parents 50th anniversay next August and I would love to have lost it by then - I think this is a realistic target/timescale (is it?) and the best motivation I can think of at the moment as I really need to focus on something to keep me in line.
So my first aim is to lose at least a stone by Xmas.
I think your targets are both very do-able and realistic - go for itI let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
Hello everyone, mind if I join you
I started SW last week, went to my first group on Wednesday, was soooo nervous about going, nearly backed out a couple of times but once there everyone was really nice so Im feeling positive, got a lot to loose, about half my current weight
I have a couple of questions if thats ok
Lastnight I made a curry to share between 3, I worked out the syn value for the curry but because Im not eating the whole thing do I just take a 3rd of the syn value?
Also
Extra easy is confusing me, I get that you can eat all the food thats free on both red and green but am I right in thinking on EE you only get one A healthy extra and one B healthy extra but if you were to do a red or green day you get 2 of both A and B?
thankyou in advance for any replies0 -
Darling hubby's cooking a vegetable paella out of the recent comfort foods freebie booklet for us tonight - yum yum!
On another note I'm slightly annoyed that the SW mag is ALL about EE now - what about those of us who prefer red & green? No more ideas or recipes for us?I will do EE once in a blue moon but not regularly so it's put me off buying the magazine again! Will have to browse back over all my old copies.
12 weeks until Xmas - that's a minimum of a stone I want to have lost by then!

Yes just divide the syns by 3.
Yes 1 of each on EE and up to 2 of each on Red or Green.
Enjoy SW - it's the best plan out there!0 -
wow that was quick, thankyou
I think Il be sticking to red and green days as having 2 healthy extras would suit me just fine
Todays menu has been
Bfast - chopped banana topped with toffee mullerlight and 1 crushed nice biscuit ontop
Lunch - big bowl of soup (celery, onions, mushrooms, garlic, pearl barley, potato, spices and stock)
Dinner - was going to do pasta salad but fancied something hot so had poached egg, beans and mushrooms
Snack will be a mint choc hifi bar tonight with a cup of tea
I really need to go shopping for SW friendly bits and more fruit, will do a proper meal plan and shop on Monday0 -
Just had a packet of Sainsbury ready cooked Chinese Chicken.
It's ready to eat chicken fillet slices, beautiful and only 1.5 syns for packet.
Would anyone know how to produce this at home as expensive to buy ready prepared.
Many thanks for any replies.:beer:0
