Sometimes it feels as though that's the only way I'll manage it though. I bought a house (on my own) 8 years ago, yep, that's right, just before they went up. But then I met a guy, moved in with him, sold my house and we bought another together. I left him, got a little cash back but that didn't last 2 minutes
If I'd have kept my house it's worth approx double what I paid for it. Just now it looks as though we won't ever be able to buy one, especially if I decide to do cakes full time so we'd both be self employed
Is there enough money in the cakes? (if you don't mind me asking?) My SIL is very talented but she says it takes too much time and effort to do 'as a job'
Although I don't think she has explored the right markets...people like me who don't have time or a talented SIL are willing to pay for a decent cake which is personal...
No point worrying about the past though hun...I had to buy my ex out of my last house and it screwed me up for a while...and I would be better off financially if I didn't but hey ho - if I hadn't been there, done that and got the t-shirt then I wouldn't be the person I am now and I wouldn't have my beautiful son - I would rather be happy and skint than rich and unhappy :cool:please listen to MFD - she is a wise woman

I just try not to think about it, as it annoys me if I do. Damn hindsight.
There's enough money in the cakes if you have the time! I can make as much money from them (maybe more) than my day admin job but then that's pretty low pay, although at least it's consistant. There would always be the worry of what if with the cakes. What if I'm ill and can't work, what if I just don't get any orders etc.
People charge upwards of £2 per cupcake. That's a big mark up on costs but a fair price for the time.0 -
Congratulations about the mortgage redstar.. I am very happy for you!

Not been posting for a bit (although managed to lurk and read bits and bats) as ive been trying to get out more after being trapped in the house too much. Feel much better now as Ive been spending a lot of time with my cousin who has a little girl who is 5 weeks older than A. Also having clear outs, etc. as lots of baby stuff everywhere! Sorted all A's 3-6 month stuff out- shes got way too many clothes, it's ridiculous!
A has now been rolling over from back to front any chance she gets! She's very quick now. She's also reaching out for things and it is very amusing watching her trying to grab the pattern on fabrics. She has also started moving her mouth in a chewing motion when we eat in front of her- has anyone had this before?
Have sorted fairy stuff and will be posted this weekend. Will PM those who requested anything.
I have booked some baby signing classes, has anyone done these before and were they successful?First baby born 10/06/10:heartpuls 6lb 10z:heartpulsI love my little family0 -
Edgar's notes had his ethnicity as "White - Irish" I had it changed, I wasn't bothered but just wanted it correct and was a bit worried that it might turn up on some records when he's grown up and think he's adopted or something randomEvansangel wrote: »It annoys me more when i actually spell it out to them. I once emailed Mr Kipling (to ask about the giant french fancy) and i signed it with K Von-Doom.
They replied 'Dear K VONDOM...'
I was tempted to reply 'Are you blind, i wrote it out for you and you still mispelt it' but DH said they probably thought someone couldn't have a name as silly as that :rotfl:
It only seems to be the maternity unit that does it, everything else medical related is in my correct name.
They even wrote the wrong time of birth on Lilys notes, only an hour out but i like things to be correct
I got a very apologetic letter from the hospital about it and a print out of his file showing it had been changed tho

Nice to see you Michelle - have been thinking about you. xxx
IMHO the watching and chewing stuff is all part of her learning what life is all about. When Benjamin was about 17 weeks or so I started giving him a raw carrot (whole but peeled) to play with whilst we ate...it gave him a taste of something but he clearly couldn't eat it, just suck on it and feel like he was participating.
It doesn't mean that she is hungry, just that she is watching and learning.
Off to bed night all xxxplease listen to MFD - she is a wise woman

Erin never did chewing motions and is still learning how to eat but surprised us today by sucking up spaghetti! We started giving Erin food when she started trying to pinch it out of our hands but did baby led weaning.
We did baby signing, they say not to start until they are 7 months but we started at 6. Erin still hasn't signed back, most don't start until 12 months but she absolutely loved the classes, the instructor was just so animated (obviously!) that Erin was totally absorbed and we both had good fun and I learned loads of new songs. Some of the older babies were signing and it's so cute! and most did several terms so obviously thought it was worth going back. I would still be going to the classes it but I'm working on the day it's on so can't go

michelle i have started to sign with Charlie who is 33 months and Erin 20 months and i have had a lot of sucess. i am unsure of how they would pick it up/remember of they arent aware of the objects etc. It is definatly worth going to and learning but it may take a long time to have a response back. What's for you won't go past you0
