This is the baby signing book we have. It's part of a bigger series, but you won't need a lot of the signs at first. But it's got cute pictures and provides a good jumping off point. The key is repetition - lots and lots and lots of it, as it takes a while baby to figure out what you're doing.top 2013 wins: iPad, £50 dental care, £50 sportswear, £50 Nectar GC, £300 B&Q GC; jewellery, Bumbo, 12xPringles, 2xDiesel EDT, £25 Morrisons, £50 Loch Fyne

Well...I was in Preston this morning but I have been at home this afternoon...
In between work and checking up on you lot I have cooked dinner and ironed 12 items of clothing (okay, it is not much but it is something) I have also filled and put the dishwasher on - which means that this evening will be more relaxed than usual because I have done half of my 'chores' already.
I am also being scarily productive work wise
Now I best go and collect my babba for some fun before bedtime
oh dear - I fear you are putting me to shame
this morning I am still in my pj's (relatively unusualy for me) and I juts can't be bothered. Its been a long week of non sleeping/broken nights so as its Friday I'm not feeling as yummy a mummy as normal

We are having a major breakthrough with the potty training - it just seems to have clicked so fingers crossed
congrats on the potty training. ANy tips for those of us yet to embark upon this wonderful journey?got-it-spend-it wrote: »Thanks! Unfortunately we don't have a Lakeland nearby but I wish we did.
I used the H G Mould spray on the shower cubicle and it done an amazing job. I would say it is 90% better, and I'm hoping with another application it will be even better. I would definitely recommend it.redstararnie76 wrote: »

Can't remember who it was (Emlou?) making Nigella's crustless pizza, but how did their's turn out? Made it for tea last night and it rose, and tasted like a cheesy Yorkshire pudding - not unpleasant, but deffo not what it was meant to be like. The only thing I did defferently was use semi-skimmed milk, not full strength.

Although I don't think she has explored the right markets...people like me who don't have time or a talented SIL are willing to pay for a decent cake which is personal...

There's enough money in the cakes if you have the time! I can make as much money from them (maybe more) than my day admin job but then that's pretty low pay, although at least it's consistant. There would always be the worry of what if with the cakes. What if I'm ill and can't work, what if I just don't get any orders etc.
People charge upwards of £2 per cupcake. That's a big mark up on costs but a fair price for the time.
My experience has been that people are happy to pay for premium i.e organice etc, but aren't happy to pay for the time that goes into something like a personalised cake, when there alternatives out there.
My friend and I relly got stuck into it together, then things trailed off when we realised that to continue we needed to really ramp up the amount of time and effort that we were putting in. It doesn't really work as a job on the side IMHO, and neither of us had the drive or the time to take it that step further, so shes had another baby and moving south and I'm concentrating on doing it for the love of it and on request from family and friends. It also wasn't fitting in round DH's work, which was a problem as the evenings where I needed to be working on teh cakes A would be up and causing havoc and we don't have childcare. I enjoy it - but I can't give it what's needed, but I'm pleased gave it a bash and found it out for myself. Just because it didn't happen for me doesn't mean it couldn't work for others.:D
sorry that was a bit random! And please forgive the awful spelling and incoherent-ness of my ramblings. My brain is a little fried today. (that's my excuse and I'm sticking with it!)

Mmmm... may start giving A pieces of apple/carrot now aswell since everything goes in her mouth anyway. I have to say I did give her a sneaky bit of baby porridge a few days ago- just to see how she reacted. She was shouting at me in between each spoonful because I wasnt quite quick enough and there was no spitting out at all! I won't be following the 6 months advice for weaning (mainly for practical reasons as I will be back at work in Dec
- bad mummy
) I was thinking 21 weeks?
I don't think you can do these things by numbers personally. Either a baby is ready or they aren't.
...although I am a little confused
if you are feeding A you already are weaning her!!
Or do you mean weaning her off the boob?
Edit - no offence intended...I know this is the one of the 'sensitive areas' where things get a little heated and people get upset.please listen to MFD - she is a wise woman

No offence taken, I know some people will be tutting away in secret...
I gave her a desert spoon of baby porridge a few nights ago- just to test the water if that makes sense?? Ive not given her anything since but her reactions tell me she might be ready soon. (That's my own instinct though...) And the whole weaning thing does include the boob, I want to be in some kind of routine before I go back as I will need to make a desicion to express or transfer to formula.
I would love to just take the whole of my mat leave and breast feed until she's ready to give it up.
But that is a no no! First baby born 10/06/10:heartpuls 6lb 10z:heartpulsI love my little family0 -

Michelle, on my instinct plus following medical advice - David was started on solids at 17 weeks. It is your baby and no-one knows better than you what is best
