Cafc- Kian used to hate tummy time. he's cry as soon as you put him on his tummy.

CAFC - can I just say I think your really expecting alot from L and he is still just so little, I dont think we noticed any major achievments from T till after 3 months and L has only just got there. I'm sure he will be just fine you'll be suprised what they can do from one day to the next it changes over night.

CAFC - I agree with the others but I also remember that it seemed to take an age for 'anything' to happen!! At L's age it is mostly smiling and gurgling from what I can remember - and fighting to get them to sleep LOL.

If you are concerned why not have a quick chat with your HV next time you see her (do you see her when you get him weighed?) for some reassurance?


Even when he is doing loads you will still worry - it is the mothers curse!!

CAFC, from the piccies I've seen of Landen, he looks like a lovely alert young chap. He's figured out how to hold his dummy in, which is a developmental thing, and he likes sucking his hands, which is also a sign he's becoming aware of these things.

It does suck that parenthood and child development is so competitive, but as with all the 'period' talk a few days ago - we all started at different times, which doesn't seem to have affected our ability to have kids, it just means some people's bodies do things earlier. I'm probably not making much sense, but I'm sure Landen is fine.

I suspect I may have worked out the cause of my hyperemesis in pregnancy: piriton. With Alice I was given piriton at 5 1/2 weeks and within a week I had lost a stone and was in hospital on a drip. I did feel nauseous before the piriton and had been sick once before having the piriton and the leaflet didn't say anything about that kind of thing so I hadno reason to suspect it. Fast forward to next pregnancy and I buy a packet of piriton to save having to go to the doctors. When I read the leaflet, it mentions that it can cause all sorts of things including a number of things I suffered from throughout my pregnancy (such as drowsiness, nausea, vomitting and lack of appetite). The leaflet is definitely different as the ones I had before said you shouldn't take it when breastfeeding because it can affect milk supply whereas this one just has the standard "Consult your Dr/pharmacist." and I am sure it didn't say about those side effects before (except for drowsiness but I knew about that already). Given the apparent correlation I didn't dare start taking them in case it was the piriton so I carried on with what I normally have. Then on Thursday, I said to OH, "Since I'm not pregnant I should try the piriton now to see what effect it has". I've only taken one a day but since Saturday morning I have been feeling really sick and have been really struggling to eat. It does mean I don't feel as worried about being ill in future pregnancies (I did wonder whether I wasn't ill in the recent one because something was wrong) but I'm feeling very :mad: that nobody (i.e. Doctors/midwife) considered that as a possible cause when really if they are knowledgable about these medicines (which they should be) it should have been an obvious potential cause and could then have been resolved.

Alice never had tummy time because it just made her cry. Some people find that putting a rolled up towel under their shoulders helps. (It didn't for us but Alice just hated all lying down.)

Susan, unfortunately not all Drs are particularly aware of what they are prescribing people. My aunty (pharmacist) always used to go through my grandad's prescriptions, and the number of times he was given medicines that should not have been taken with others he had was astonishing. All to often they reach for the BNF and that's it.

True but I would have expcted the midwife to know and I had consultant care (because of the hyperemesis) so you would have thought they would too since there's a much smaller range of medicines used in pregnancy. I didn't really see my GP after he prescribed it. But then one doctor wrote "feeling much better" on my notes when I said I was still just as bad so obviously wasn't paying much attention.

CAFC - I agree with everyone else STOP WORRYING!!!!! Landen is doing really well judging by your pics. If he's still not doing those things you mentioned in a month then it might be time to check....but I can guarantee he will be and you'll be worrying about something else. To put things things into perspective T rolled from back to front at 16 weeks but only just figured out front to back yesterday. (nearly 21 weeks!) but Ayana (15 weeks) and Ava have both rolled front to back this week.
