A lad in my swimming club had an accident on his bike the day before his GCSEs. He usually wore a helmet but didn't because it was an unusually hot day. Apparently he had to flap his scalp back onto his head. (Whited out so people can choose whether to read it.) He had to have a scribe for all his GCSEs.My_Fathers_Daughter wrote: »Although, nobody had a helmet when I was a kid and there are still a fair few of us around
We got helmets after I went over the handlebars of my bike and skidded along the road on my face. (Which probably sounds worse than it was.) I had two falls since then but unlike the first fall where a random stranger had to give me a lift home, I was able to continue which in at least one of them I'm sure I couldn't have if I hadn't had a helmet.Any question, comment or opinion is not intended to be criticism of anyone else.2 Samuel 12:23 Romans 8:28 Psalm 30:5

Today is crap, today my 10yr had to grow up too fast, she started her periods and it's not f!!!ing fair!
:(:(
Aww Tara, hugs for your DD. That is awfully young. She's still a baby herself. That is very sad if not even other children helped him.
I just presume he gets lost in the mad scramble to get their things. I asked where his best friends locker was, he said in the middle. But don't think Harry would be able to help him, as he is only about an inch taller. He wasn't upset. As usual its me the parent who gets angry and indignant that he has to jump up and down to be able to do something as simple as retrieve his lunch or school work.
Anyway, left OH at home this morning to deal with two loss adjusters from the insurance companies (contents and buildings) after our leak at the weekend. Contents have settled claim for new carpets for the two sets of stairs and two landings, just have to wait for them to send someone out with samples. And Buildings have settled with a cash amount (minus excess) to paint walls and ceilings on landings and hall and living room and for a new wooden floor. So that's a total re-doo of most of the house. We just now need to find a decorator and get the paint. Or OH does, I'm staying out of it. I do enough :rotfl:0 -

I'm a bit stumped for ideas, as I don't know what she will be into by then. We're going to go have a look in the early learning centre sale later, and probably get a happyland set, but what else? I don't know if a pairs game/dominoes would be too advanced and better for the following year? Or maybe some kind of flash cards? I'm lost, help!
I've just gone on the Boots website Lady and you can filter by age so I have been doing that...With boys birthdays in Nov & Dec I like to ask for some pressies they can have out in the summer too.kindofagilr wrote: »Anyone ever used flower dlievery company? any good suggestions? my mam is feeling low and I want to get some flowers sent to her

Alice got cards for playing pairs for the Christmas before she was two and she seemed to catch on reasonably quickly to how it worked. I think I started off just using three pairs until she got the idea and initially I had to deliberately not get pairs to give her a chance.ladybirdintheuk wrote: »Oh - I had a question for those of you with bigger kids too - I'm trying to work out what to get Izzy for Christmas/Birthday. My minds a blank but I'll just go and look at Christmas/birthday photos to see what she had...
sand for sandpit
slate and slate pencil
a million books
cards for playing pairs/snap etc.
hair clips
toy boat for bath
jigsaws (ranging from the ones where they're just two pieces to put together up to 25 pieces)
hobby horse
plastic toy railway
toy xylophone (this is one of those pull along Fisher Price ones from the early 80's and Alice actually uses it to give her toys rides rather than as a musical instrument)
arts and crafts materials
bags
duplo
slide
trampoline
All of those things are still used now although the horse tends to just be waved around wildly rather than actually used how it's meant to.
She was given brio railway too but she still can't put the railway together herself so doesn't get as much play value out of it yet relative to the big plastic one.Any question, comment or opinion is not intended to be criticism of anyone else.2 Samuel 12:23 Romans 8:28 Psalm 30:5

I've used Tesco twice and received from the once. I was happy with what I received and got very good feedback from the people I sent to. I have no experience of any others and no idea whether they were the best value but used them because I knew from what I'd receievd that they were good and it was more important for me to be confident they'd be good than to get the best deal.kindofagilr wrote: »Anyone ever used flower dlievery company? any good suggestions? my mam is feeling low and I want to get some flowers sent to her
