oh did i tell you about what zoes teacher said when i had words .................. well she said she didnt know anything about the pages being ripped (of course not *rolleyes*) and she would voice my worries .. voice my worries???? ... oh and the cover apparently all teacher have to have 2 afternoons a week to talk about the class and if they're teaching the correct subject???????????????? hello should you know that already .. well i had words and she knows im not happy x
I think you misunderstood/she explained badly.
All teachers get PPA time it is for planning, preparation and assessment, it is time out of the classroom that they use to do the paperwork part of their job and is a contractual obligation.
Part of my mum's job is to take a class while the usual teacher has their PPA time ;) at her school the 2nd session of PPA is usually when the class do french or sport with a specialist teacher or go swimming. :)
The very best is sometimes what nature gives us for free.

Moodle?! I don't think i have that, there's not much on my course page, and definitely no links to forums or moodles

I am totally clueless and so confused. In fact i think i read on our fb group that the forums haven't opened yet so i don't even know *shrug*

It might appear in time. You normally get access to course and tutor group forums about a week before the course officially start date.

Can I ask how much your nursery/school sweatshirts cost?

I can't remember prices but they are expensive and poor quality. Tesco/M&S etc., are cheaper and last longer, and it's easier to find a plain one among a pile of school jumpers ;)

SM - our school teachers change round a bit in primary. James old teacher doesn't do sport but speaks fluent French, so she'll swap and a sporty teacher will have her class for PE while she teachers their class French and stuff like that. There's also the planning time that Sami mentions.

Up early and off to boot camp in the rain this morning. Hard core me like :D
Here I go again on my own....

    Grrrrr
I am super skint and somehow need to find 41.50 today, and £50 by Thursday, then another £15 by Friday!!!! Flaming school thinks we are made of money:(

Sami - Our pre-school charge £6.50 for jumpers and £4.50 for the polo shirts....they are optional, but I did get them for J as they look so sweet, plus it saved him painting his own clothes;) School jumpers are £7.50 for J and £8.50 for L.......

Edit - Hi becles, I can't believe you are still doing boot camp, well done:)

  • Morning!

Amazing night here of 7-7 so I feel thoroughly refreshed. Unfortunately OH was 3 hours late home from work so is going to be nackered when he has to get up with H at 11 so I can go to work, but his parents are coming later so he can always go back to bed.

Grr at the expensive schools, Mel. That is something I'm not looking forward to.

Not much pumping advice to add Kitkat, but I just wanted to say well done you! I pumped at least once a day for the first six months, but after six months I found it really hard to get any meaningful amount, even though I seemed to have plenty of milk there to feed direct. I totally second Elle's suggestion as things with lots of oats in being a good starting point for getting your supply up.

All teachers are entitled to a half day of non teaching known as "PPA" time (I think planning, preparation and something else I forget) and NQTs (newly qualified teachers) have an additional half day per week for professional development. So presumably (based on what you've said) she is an NQT and it was the PPA cover teacher who ripped the book and didn't (unsuprisingly) tell her about it. If she is an NQT, she may well not feel like she has the status/authority to have words with the PPA cover teacher.

KitKat quinoa is supposed to be good for milk supply.

Bruno, could budget allow for a child minder one afternoon a week for a while? It's not much but it might just be enough...

Bruno - what about playgroup? Here LOs can start from 2ish and its very cost effective and you leave them for 2- 2 1/2 hours or so. they can go a coule of mornings a week or more if you want.

    * in motherly voice* i think you should go to the 30th tonight. You are such a support to others, but you have to remember that you need to look after yourself as well. Perhaps when FIL stays you will manage an outing just you and OH................;)
Can I do my work rant now? I'll keep it brief (ish:rotfl:).

Some of you may remember that I took a demotion when I went back so that I could be nearer to home and have a little bit less stress. I took a relatively small salary cut, plus cut my days from 5 to 3. However it is kind of becoming clear that I was demoted in title only, and if anything now have more responsibility than I did before. I am supporting a mgr who is really struggling and effectively I am managing the three days I am there and he is keeping things afloat the four days I am not (I work in retail so it's a seven day a week business). I kind of don't mind as I'm doing what I'm good at, and it's nice to have a challenge but I really resent having (a) lost my job title and (b) taking a pay cut, albeit a small one. Should I just suck it and see, or point out that I think it is a little unfair?

Feel free to ignore if you CBA to read :rotfl:. I'll stop being a spoiled brat now and go to bed :).

a lot of my friends who have gone back to work part time have had similar issues - less hours but just as much is expected from them, they just have less time to do it in! Not what you want to hear, but t least you know you aren't alone. Perhaps you could raise it with your boss at the next review. is it work as a whole or just that you have a rubbish manager???:p

Thanks Elle :) you have given me hope! My MW/ and any BF advisor I have spoken to keep telling me I am doing the 'unnatural' thing and that my supply will dry up, but you managed it for a year! Thats pretty impressive!! Thanks for the hints and tips, there are some that I never knew so I will try follow those from now on. One thing that is currently letting me down is that I am borrowing a pump from my local hospital and they are taking in back due to them feeling I should be 'properly' BFing  could you recommend a good electric pump at all? All I have as back up is a manual pump, which I do find quite good but unsure whether it will work if used solely.

well I have to take exception to this! You are doing a fantastic job. Any breastmilk is a positive thing and I don't think people understand who hard pumping is. Remember that the most important thing is what is right for YOUR family - not mine, not the next door neighbours and not the health visitors - YOURS ;)

Kitkat, here's a yummy way to get your oats:

    Nigella's Blondies

    200g porridge oats 1 egg
    100g plain flour 170g choc chips/ pieces
1/2 tsp bicarbonate of soda 150g unsalted butter
100g light muscavedo sugar 397g can condensed milk

    23cm square baking tin

    * Preheat oven to 180C, line tin with foil.

    * Combine oats, flour & bicarb in a bowl.

    * In another bowl beat or mix sugar and butter until pale and creamy. Beat in condensed milk, followed by the oat mix.

    * When these are mixed, beat in the egg, and then fold on choc.

    * Put mix in tin and smooth down. Cook in oven for approx. 35 min. until golden around edges, but squidgy in the middle, as they firm up once out of the oven.

I made mine with regular marg and brown sugar, as that's what I had in. They turned out just fine.

    Morning All!!!

Not been around for a few days as OH has had his days off so I try not to sit on laptop ignoring him,but he does it instead LOL

Managed to make Landen laugh again, with DH in the room so he now knows I wasnt lying about it!

My Vertboobaa (cant remember the name) order came yesterday, am v.happy but the coat will be too big... was so hard figuring out the sizing!!! But I've got lots of pramsuits etc which will last him for the upcoming cold, and I reckon 2 months and his new coat will fit fine.

DH has managed to completely F Up Landen's routine over the past 3 days, he wont listen to me when I tell him what's going to happen/is time for etc.... so DH sticks a bottle to him, wastes an entire bottle, and then moans that he wont take it and is whinging, and Im like "Thats because he's tired not hungry!" which I told you before you went about getting a bottle.... GAH! I dont know how to tell him without seeming like I'm being "i know everything and you suck at looking after the baby!"

I also got ridiculously upset about not having many photos of myself with Landen. We're making FIL bday present of album with photos of L, and us with L. So the other day Im taking photos of DH with L, got some really nice ones, but he was like "ok Im bored of photos now" so we've now got L with DH but hardly any with me because DH isn't considerate enough to think "hey I know.... etc etc"

Sorry mini rant over - he's off to work for 3 days LOL
