Welcome. Well done "imamotorhomer" :T - you have followed the correct process and that's all that you can do for now - it's exactly what the rest of us have done. Remember to keep your personal information to yourself as much as possible and don't let MCO know any more about you than they already have. I'm sure that there will be a satisfactory conclusion for all those who have followed the advice in this forum. It seems to be that they have contacted only Experian (not Equifax). Keep us informed of any further development on your situation:)0 -
FSA job is to pretend to bash the big banks; as you will have noted from the current scam we call "the government" (MCO are rank amateurs), when big banks lose money (to each other), by changing the value of a few dodgy bits of paper through the medium of the "variable decimal point" method of accounting, the subsequent imaginary trillion pound debt is passed over as a real debt to the UK taxpayer, who is then told he has "been living beyond his means".
It's even worse if you are a US citizen, where January is going to bring unbelievable tax hikes collected by a privately owned debt collection agency called the IRS on behalf of a bunch of scammers (also privately owned, you'll never guess by whom) called the Federal Reserve.
Just though I'd liven up the discussion ;-)
Ha Ha! Well said. Thats a different post to the norm! :rotfl:
At last someone's made me laugh when looking at this thread! :rotfl:0 -
Any idea how many different bank accounts there are? I've only seen HSBC and NORDEA BANK FINLAND?
Anyone up for trawling through the whole thread and figuring it out. I'm still a bit confused...being an Oldbloke!0 -
I would suggest that you don't wait for AF to call back - keep trying and you will get through. Best time seems to be around 5 pm - they are open until 8.00 pm tonight.
I've spent too much time hanging on the phone today TBH. I'll just wait for them to contact me. My dad doesn't need a good credit rating because he doesn't need to borrow money so I think I can afford to adopt a wait and see attitude. I've informed Helploan that the loan wasn't taken out by him, they have my details and so do ActionFraud and it looks like the police are all over it too. Unless you're worried about getting credit in the next 12 months there's probably no point in contacting Experian to get the searches removed either according to the bloke I spoke to there earlier.
Looking forward to reading about the investigation in the papers or perhaps watching it on Watchdog at some point;).
Cheers,
jahman0 -

I'm not entirely sure I agree with that - I spoke with Experian Fraud Investigators yesterday. (I had the MCO searches removed by them within 24 hours of being made aware of the searches. The dates respectively were 3rd Sept for searches, alert from Experian on my CreditExpert by email September 8th, they contacted MCO who agreed to remove the searches September 9th). Now what is interesting, is what that actually means - it's MCO accepting that the original application was fraudulent.
For that reason, I would make a very strong representation to Experian, as they CAN contact MCO, and demand that the erroneous data is removed. It's not about what might happen in 12 months, but adds to the numbers of proven false/fraudulent searches which have to be accepted by MCO.0 -

No need to hang on jahman - just keep trying to phone at a different time - it's more or less pot luck. I would strongly encourage you to persist as a Crime Ref no is important for you and the more of us who register as victims, the stronger our case!!:j0 -

Colinho - please let me know how you managed to get Experian to remove the Experian credit checks? I tried and they told me it week or two as they has to contact MCO and get their would take a week or two to remove the search as they had to contact MCO and get their agreement - bo**ocks - why??? Any advice appreciated Colinho
Think it was purely due to the fact that I was probably one of the first to shout. Loudly. I had a CreditExpert account, which means that Experian are "monitoring my account and alerting me to changes", and when I disputed the searches, CreditExpert (Experian) allocated a case worker who had direct access to MCO. Her contact led directly to the cancellation - I'm assuming that at that early stage, the defecation was not hitting the oscillation with quite the volume it is now. So regrettably, I cannot claim that I have any magic recipe, just persistence, and I suppose the good fortune to have taken out the CreditExpert contract.
After this incident, I swapped to the "Protect my ID" contract, but have, in view of the gaping holes in our system shown by this potentially long running farce, and the expense we have all incurred in having the burden of proof dumped on us, sent letters to all three credit agencies, adding Notice of Correction requiring thumbprint, as previously described. As I'm generally loaning money to the banks at no interest, I don't think I'll be needing a loan in the future, but if I do, I would much rather have the problem of proving my identity, than the problem of somebody else using it.
Keep up the good work here;-)0 -
Joined the forum specifically to add weight to the numbers of people affected and also to express my gratitude to everyone on here who has supplied helpful advice. Nice to know I'm not alone!
I received my letter on 11 September, although it was dated 21 August. Start date of loan was 21 August and Expiration date 18 September.
Have applied to have the two credit searches MCO Capital Ltd did on my account removed from Experian's records. Again, like many others, the time at address information from MCO was way out.
Have written three letters to MCO (2 to Kingsway and 1 to one to Portland address). Have also emailed two separate addresses.
Nothing has been heard back from them!
I have rung Fraud Action twice, once just after receiving the Helploan letter when their advice was to write to MCO saying I hadn't requested a loan nor received any funds and a second, after their advice changed, in order to receive my CRN (Crime Reference Number).
I believe I have done all I can - so now will await the next step on the journey to getting this all sorted out. Whatever that step may be, I know I won't be alone.
Thanks again.0
