Can I just say thanks to everyone who has posted information on this forum. I have just spent the last hour reading everyones comments. I have received my second letter today, dated 12th August from Helploan, the first was dated 3 Sept from MCO Capital Ltd wanting payment for the usual £513.00.
The first letter wanted me to make payment over the phone on a number 0844 576 2340. Having looked them up on the internet and seeing this forum i did nothing. i requested a credit report from Experian, finding that MCo had made a check, I notified experian who are investigating and have suggested I let Equifax know and also suggest contacting CFAS.
Having recieved my second letter tonight I have contacted Action Fraud who are going to call me back this week as they have been inundated with calls re MCO .
The account details are no. 73663361 sort code 404319 HSBC Bank
There was a new phone number 0844 576 5731
I do not want to contact them as I don't want them to get my phone number or my email address.
I liked the little touch at the end of the letter....We thank you for choosing helploan and hope to deal with you again in the near future.
I will wait to hear from Action fraud before taking any further action.0 -
Hi jopatty,
Don't blame you for not wanting them to get any more ID. If you've been reading the posts for the past hour, you'll know my feelings on the matter. Just follow the recent advice and it should be resolved.0 -
I received my letter last week, although I didn’t request the loan or receive the cash.
On my letter dated 3rd September, I have been given sort code 404878 account 43846601 which relates to Nordea Bank Finland PLC London.
I quick check also showed sort codes 405043 and 405060 relating to the same bank.
I spoke to help loan last week when I received their letter and they said, the they would just close the account, (am sure that is too good to be true) along with writing the standard letter to the registered address.
After speaking to Experian, the hardest thing may be to get the MCO's search removed from my credit report, since Experian will have to write them to, obtain their consent to remove. (That’s going to be fun).
I also contact AF to obtain the necessary CRN number.
Currently am awaiting the MET police to call back, as I spoke to their fraud department yesterday to log the fraud. I was told that via MCO’s registered address in London, they fall into their patch. If I hear back from them, I will keep you all posted.0 -
Pardon my ignorance, but why are folks concerned about having MCO perform a search with Experian? What difference does it make? Why would I need to have it 'removed'?
I'm still awaiting a call back from ActionFraud. The chap I spoke to didn't seem that bright, (asked me to write to MCO still!!!) but I don't hold up much hope. Still, no doubt it'll provide justification when their budget get's reviewed - "but we're so busy - you can't close us down!!"
I appreciate I may appear a little jaded here - but this cottage industry of identity theft protection gets up my nose.....0 -
1. MCO credit licence does not allow trading off premises - licenced address is Imperial House. However, there is no sign of them there - only their lawyers. Where are they actually trading from? We already have 3 addresses and multople bank a/c numbers.
2. The are an online loan company (Mobile Credit Online Capital) and would surely have clients email addresses? So why is the first that clients hear about loan is a repayment demand letter directing clients to a debt recovery company - now Intrum Justitia (previously Gothia)?
3. Why is there no loan agreement sent to clients?
4. Why is MCO still trading and issuing new letters re alleged loans? New forum members are appearing daily telling us of new demand letters. Why are they allowing this to continue?
5. All alleged loans repayment demands are based on a loan of £300 plus £213 for interest and charges. The charges level is very high - does this indicate that MCO intend to involve a debt recovery company from the outset?
6. Where does MCO get the money from? Their accounts suggest a capital of around £1500 yet, if there are "thousands" of fraudulent loans, then the defraud level must be approaching a million pounds?
7. Are there at least 2 police investigations underway, namely:
a. into the alleged defrauding of MCO by a gang of identity theives
b. into the identity theft involving hundreds, if not thousands, of victims?
Here ends my midnight musings.
However, I would like to remind new members that it is very important that they contact Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040 as soon as possible - and thereby obtain a Crime Reference Number, which should be made known to MCO.
Finally, if there is anything folks do not want to mention in open forum, there is a Private Message (PM) facility available - left click on person you wish to communicate with and select "Send a private message to....". You will find any PMs for you at top right hand side of any forum page between the two green horizontal bars0 -

I ran Intrum Justitia yesterday and they do have email addresses. Just they are not your real one. The one they had for me was a hotmail one.0 -
With regards to credit search's etc, the more search's on your report could affect your credit score and your abilityto obtain credit now or at a later date.0

Because you don't want an entry on there from MCO saying you have defaulted on the loan they have apparently given you.0 -

Took Experian about three days to get the MCO search removed from my record. Pretty quick.0
