    >> More Infomation

It makes me suspicious whenever they say its heavily discounted! That's only about £8 though, someone tell me where I'm going wrong!

Can't access the disk at all. As a browser its mozilla. no dvd or cd works at all. itunes won't install.

basically a flippin major problem somewhere and I'm the most grateful person in the world if i can fix this without taking it to a store!

Lou, not getting cross but CCleaner is free, if it is asking for payment please let me know and I will check the download.

DO NOT pay anything if asked.

Borrow/buy an external hard disk or flash drive, backup, restore to factory settings, if the drive still doesn't work, take it back to the retailer and ask for a free fix under the sale of goods act.

If you have enough sd cards, you could split the backup, but external hard discs or dvd's provide a better long term backup solution

OK, order to do things. CLICK ON THE LINKS BELOW, THEY TAKE YOU DIRECTLY TO THE DOWNLOADS:

    1) Download CCleaner
    2) Install CCleaner making sure boxes to install browser toolbars are unticked. Once installed, run it.
    3) On the bottom of the CCleaner Window, click on "Run Cleaner". It'll probably take an absolute age but should remove several GB of rubbish.
    3) Whilst in CCleaner, on the left click on the Tools icon (spanner). Click on System Restore. On the list of restore points on the right, click on the second one down. HOLD DOWN THE SHIFT KEY AND CLICK ON THE LAST ONE ON THE LIST. This will select them all apart from the very top one which can't be removed (for your benefit). Click on Remove. We're now done with CCleaner.

    4) Download IOBit Smartdefrag
    5) Install Smartdefrag, again making sure that any options to add browser toolbars are unticked.
    6) WITH THE LAPTOP CHARGER PLUGGED IN, run Smartdefrag. Make sure the C drive is ticked. Select "Fast Optimize" from the dropdown menu to the right of the start button then click on Start.
    7) Once that's finished, which may take several hours and need running more than once, Click on Options and then tick the "Load Automatically at Windows Startup". This'll keep it running in the background and optimise the hard drive but it disables when you're running on battery to save battery life.

Once you've done that, you should have something running at a speed that we can then start optimising properly so post once you've done it.
