Woke up later than expected - Got down to Hempstead Valley at 7.03 there were about 100 people going crazy, managed to grab a few bits, everything was flying on shelves bigtime. It took about 15 minutes to get from one end of the isle to the other. Shall look at amazon and boots now - 50% Xmas shop done for 4 kids, good luck people - may attempt to go down to Maidstone later...0

Just got back from Sainsburys Edenthorpe, in Doncaster after a 30 mile round trip and it wan't bad, managed to get some stocking fillers for my girls aged 11, 9, 6 and 4. They did have quite a few toys in that they don't normally stock. It was busy at 7.10 am when I got there and quite a lot of things has already gone! They had loads of Sylvanian family windmills (but I don't think they were the large ones) and loads of Buzz lightyears.
I managed to get home before the kids and dh noticed I was gone, so have stashed everything away. Stealth mission complete!!

The store I went to was very quiet at 7am. Mind you there was not much there, even though it's a huge store. Nothing I wanted from online except baby annabell. I was really hoping for one of the big sylvanian families houses but there were practically no big toys. No Baxter, no go go furreal no barbie puppy swim school. No bikes, I could go on.
I managed to spend £200 so it couldn't have been all bad! There were smaller sylvanian families things and I got some lego (no big sets though) and polly pocket.
Ah well still some good bargains and I will just have to rethink Christmas a bit. Also might have to go and find a barbie swim school as DD wanted it for her birthday on Tues and I waited to see if I could get it in the sale for her party on Sat!0 -
none of this is directed at anyone in particular just how the thread sounds to me after reading it from about page 95 or so. I'm much more of a casual MSE'r.
Surprisingly I'm not actually frustrated I'm very accepting of our circumstances we have a couple of boys and can't afford more than about £80-90 on them each. the idea of a half price sale is nice but 'buries or anyone else is under no obligation to sell toys at that price.
I did like GingerPoodle's post btw -
My husband has just been to Darnley in Glasgow. Apparently quite quiet, but a fairly limited selection. There were a few people stuffing piles of Lego into their trolleys, so wouldnt rush there if that is what you are after...
it seems useful and informative even though I don't live in Glasgow, if I did it would tell me what I needed to know.
But some people are unhappy about giving out what area they live in. Internet safety and all that!! If anyone really wanted to know what store I went to all they have to do is ask and I would PM them.
I had no one to rely on to tell me what was in my store, I had to go along and have a look myself, I went last night in preparation for the online sale to be rubbish, I did my homework. I booked a taxi to take me there this morning. I went along this and knew I wouldn't get the 2 items I really wanted but was prepared for that. I got other items instead.
There is so much guilt tripping going on this forum at times and it's not fair! I understand people cannot always afford everything they would like, I understand people have no option to go into the stores for whatever reason but taking it out on other people is wrong!0 -

Hi
I got Baxter dog in B&Ms last week £14.99, not sure how much he should be full price just picked him up as he looked cute, they had loads in stock if this helps anyone.0 -
Letchworth store - got there for 8. Apart from someone nicking my trolley (empty because I thought I would park it out the way and carry stuff to it!), everyone was actally very nice. The aisle was packed so you couldn't move but lots of "sorry's" going round.
Lots of Buzz £50 version
lego sets (little/medium)
peppa pig went quickly (apart from some trolleys and soft toys of which there are loads)
gator golf
monopoly revolution
sainsburys own toys
vtech laptops
SF house of some sort - loads
Some bits by freezer section & baby aisle as well
Hope that helps0
