1) it's clearly made of plastic and not the platinum I'm entitled to - Trade Descriptions anyone??
2) and what about this "club" thing? Where are the meetings? What are the activities? I was expecting some kind of upgrade to my social life, funny handshakes, obscure rituals etc. All I get is vouchers.
Is it legal? Does Martin know of this scam?
A friend of mine told me that he paid a paid a fee to a debt advice clinic and they reclaimed all the payments for him. Think I'll go this route - and then the Ombudsman.
Seems the fat cat bankers are getting rich whilst the ordinary people suffer.
Brilliant lol0 -
And that's before a sodding great sheet of paper with "CREDIT AGREEMENT" strewn across the thing comes out from under the counter...
I said in the OP that when I was presented with this I realised what it was, read through it, checked that I'd get the 10% and could pay off in full, and then signed.
My issue was that she had offered me a store card which I now realise I must have mixed up with a loyalty card. Regardless, as I said, when I was given the credit agreement I clocked what it was. Yes, I mistook what she meant by store card initially but jeez, you guys talk about reading everything through carefully and you haven't even read in the OP that I read through the agreement and did know it was a credit card before I signed it.0 -
You weren't "tricked" then...0

you are confusing a loyalty card with a store card! I work at a well known retailer (not debenhams) and although we do get commission, its a paultry amount (£4.91 last month!) and its not based on the finance agreements we open, its based on sales! I think that maybe before agreeing to something, you need to read things properly, but in turn the sales assistnt should have spoken to you in depth about it and explained that they would be running a credit check on you.0

I was similarly ripped-off by MBNA. I opened my "Virgin Master Card" account 18 months ago, and I'm still waiting for them to deliver a Virgin for me to defile.0 -

I thought it meant you had to be a virgin to have the Virgin credit card.:)0 -

I said yes and was then asked a series of questions about my address, employment status etc. which I thought was OTT but since she'd already swiped my current credit card I assumed these were just necessary details for the store card. Low and be-hold, just as I thought everything was finished she pulled out the credit card agreement!
I was shocked and annoyed because she had said store card, though at the time I assumed I must have made a mistake. I quickly read the agreement to check that, ultimately, I will get the 10% and can pay the card off in full immediately, which I can. So I signed up for it.
Are these people on commission to get you to sign up because I'm sure I was duped into it?
So in essense, you have lost nothing, gained 10% off the price but bitterly resent some-one on minimum wage earning, maybe £10 commission.
on a matter of principle of course.........0
