I thought it was trade membership only? How can you become a member without owning a shop or something?
I know the obvious answer would be lie, but i take it they request soem sort of proof to prove you are a trader?0 -
I am a member through a work colleague.
His Indian cricket team based around Luton have a group membership and needed a couple more to make up the numbers.Funny thing is I have never been queried about my membership at Costco even though I am not exactly the right colour for an Indian,as the pic on my card idicates. :-)

can also get membership if work in nhs/police as well! (1 tiny bonus for the years of c**p working in the nhs!!)Mortgage free 04/03/2025. Thanks to this site and lots of overpayments bit by bit.
Next stop: house repairs, holiday fund, replace our very old cars, more financial security/early retirement savings.🤞0 -

I think Costco are very good in general but can't really understand why a membership fee is necessary.
What if other lower priced retailers suddenly decide to follow suite? We'd then be paying the likes of Amazon, Argos, John Lewis and play.com for the privelige of shopping with them.
Many of Costco's prices are no better then many other retailers and by charging a membership fee they should at least allow us the luxury of using credit cards.0 -

Hi, its not just for trade; there is an individual membership option too!0 -
You have to work in certain industries to get membership; I work in banking and DH is a teacher.
Costco are great for catfood, which is mainly what we use them for. Their pork is currently cheaper than Sainsburys but their lamb and beef is more expensive, so watch out.The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.0 -
I can't join although i would love too0
