  • I have a business account with Natwest and I was wondering if I am able to reclaim the charges on this which incidently add up to over £1800 since April 2006! If anyone could let me know I'd be grateful.
  • There is so much info on this site it's mind boggling! Having looked into it further I wonder if anyone could also tell me exactly which charges I am able to claim for i.e can I claim back overdraft arrangement fees of £110 a time?

If someone could tell me or point me in the direction of where to find this information myself I'd appreciate it.

    Many thanks :)
  • Ok my post has been moved to this thread and that's answered my first question but still not sure exactly what charges we are able to reclaim?

Just to remind you we are claiming penalty charges on a BUSINESS account and sent them a list of the charges we felt were unfair.

Received a letter from them today (13th Jan) and I enclose an extract.

I refer to your letter dated Xth January 2007 regarding your dissatisfaction with the charges applied to your account.
All customers are expected to conduct their account within the agreed facility and provide in advance for items presented for payment. If there are insufficient funds in the account to cover such items, the Branch may have little option but to return items unpaid, attracting the charges you describe.
Having investigated the matter I can confirm that the fees you refer to were properly charged in accordance with our published tariffs and I have, for your convenience, enclosed a copy of our current Fees and Charges Explained' leaflet.
I have also enclosed for your information a copy of our internal Complaint Handling Procedures. These procedures confirm how to pursue your complaint if you remain dissatisfied with this response and how to refer your complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service if we cannot resolve the matter.
If we do not receive a response from you within eight weeks of the date of this letter, your complaint will be considered closed.

Never knew the Nothern Bank to be so thoughtful....smiles

I would appreciate any advice on the next step to take
    Kind regards
    Clare

  • Hi - I have just heard about reclaiming Bank charges and wondered whether my mum and brother could put in a claim for their charges which put them over the top when they had a pub even though the account is not now open? My father died, my brother went bankrupt and in the end the pub was sold approximately 5 years ago. They incurred a huge amount of bank charges and eventually lost everything...mum lost her house after dad died, etc, etc. They repaid every penny and thousands more through the Bankruptcy and have struggled ever since. My brother had a breakdown and has not worked for several years. It would be great if we could get them something back now because the Bank caused the majority of the problems with the business. My mum is 77 and struggling to keep my brother going on her pension. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks !
  • You can claim on closed accounts and you can claim on business accounts but there is a limit of 6 years to go back so this may not help you much.

In view of the complexities of your case I would be inclined to get in touch with the Financial Ombudsman and see if they can help.

Thread here about someone claiming through them..

  • Hi I really need some help here. This is the fourth time ive asked this question . does anyone know how i go about claiming from a business account.

I have had a sucessful claim already but want to do the business account now for my mom and dad. Is the process the same.

Also my dad has very large overdraft. Is the bank likely to recall this if we try and claim

the claim is exactly the same procedure , use the letters and templates .
As for the bank recalling the o/d , this is completely random and no-one can really answer .
