Hope everyone has had a good bank holiday, we managed a quick afternoon at the beach Good Friday but other than that one of us was in work! However, it does mean not much money has been spent :j

Sending DH for a food shop this afternoon while I'm in work, hope he doesn't buy too much rubbish!

Have midwife this morning, i can't wait. Feels like ages since i've seen anyone (not including ridiculous consultant appointment). I was 17 weeks yesterday so really hoping to hear baby's heartbeat today - it really is the best sound :)

Have received a wonderful parcel of clothes this morning from Grateful :A DD has had a good rummage through and was quite excited! They are brilliant so thank you.

Also quickly worked out that without OP's we would owe nearly £117,000 on the mortgage at this stage. We have only been able to make steady OP's rather than using windfalls etc so I am pleased to see that this month we should come in much less than £115,000.
    June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!

Well done on the falling balance, it's good to see it isn't it.

I worked over the weekend as well, but we got to a lovely stream on Friday when it was great weather so still managed a low spend weekend.

Seems like Friday was the day for family days. I was quite schocked to discover DH and I both have the day off next Friday, my birthday is the Thursday so will do something a day late! My mum has booked by bday off so maybe we could do lunch when I finish work.

I was talking to/at DH last night about whether we would eventually move house or not and i think we will stay. I mentionned we had OP by £2000 since last June and I realised that saving could be wiped out by someone offering £2000 less than you hoped for iykwim. Our mortgage is £690 a month anyway, not sure i'd sleep at night if it was much more than that especially as interest rates can only go one way.

Had an appalling TC payment of £41.23 and from talking to a few friends it seems a few are getting that, maybe it is a new fixed amount?

Had midwife yesterday and heard baby's heartbeat, it was wonderful and DD loved it. I have a feeling I am having a boy. Don't go back to see her till 25 weeks but still have a million appointments in between with anaesthatist etc. I had loads of questions for midwife and she couldn't answer them! However didn't rule out a homebirth but said DH and I would be asked to sign a risk assessment. I will think about this, i want us both to be safe at the end of the day.

oh that's great, just had a quick look at the shoulder distocia bit as that is consultant's main concern. Great link thank you grateful. I wouldn't mind but if i could get dd's shoulders out which belonged to a 9lb 10.5oz body i can't see why it is an issue. 2 little pushes of the shoulders and out she flew!

I wonder if the £41 is the new basic TC amount. Mine is due in on friday so will prob get it tomorrow, will see what I get!

Great news on the heartbeat, are you going to find out the sex?

I hadn't thought of the OP being wiped out by someone offering a couple of K lower. Makes me re think ... AGAIN.

oh you know me Yukkibear, ever the pessimist! It's a good job I have DH to balance us out, he worries about nothing! Are you considering moving?

Not finding out the sex but a friend did the 'nub theory' and thought boy and i think boy cos of heartbeat being 140.I thought i was having a boy last time as DH's family don't make girls. I thought i'd never have a daughter so she was a wonderful surprise. I just like the wondering too much and love the discovery bit after all that hard work. It also keeps friends and families on their toes too!

I may be re-scanned at 36 weeks according to midwife yesterday so hope baby gives nothing away. My sickness has been different this time but am carrying the same so far - who knows! Only problem is if boys are generally bigger than girls and second baby too!

  • i was re scanned at 36 weeks and they couldnt tell the sex by then.

i think if you have reasonable confidence in your body's ability to do it, then homebirth is great...and there are no real medical reasons not to.

We want to move because we want a detached house, but I don't want the increased mortgage. We can afford comfortably what the bank will lend us but only if this mortgage is down a bit more, otherwise I would be worrying about the payments too much. We keep changing our minds, but we have a lot of work to do in this house before we can sell it. We've given ourselves three years as then hubby will be 40 that year and that gives us a comfortbale 25 year mortgage time plan (not that we would let it last that long). Also then dd2 wont be in a changing school year etc.
