I had two glasses
film was good too.
Since I'm feeling so much better (I actually feel amazing compared to how lethargic and generally unwell I've felt for nearly 6 weeks) I'm planning on a productive day. This began with a 5:20am wake up call from DS who I persuaded to come down with me to leave dh sleep. I did have a catch up on a diary though.
We were all ready to head off to swimming lessons (in a new location I've no idea how to get to) when I realised water was coming in through the utility room roof! This is where the extension is going and they've had to do something to the roof to be able to build the extension. Thankfully the builders came round and sorted it! Fingers crossed the new roof is ready this week as it's been complicated by them having to adjust the calculations from the architect drawings.
In an effort to 'simplify our life' (pinched from greent) I've sorted out the bookcase in the lounge this week. It is now much tidir and filled with book to read or re-read. This morning I've gone through our car paperwork and got rid of what we don't need. Im just not sure if old insurance documents need to be kept? Will have a Google but I imagine I'm probably safe to get rid of those too since most documents are just online now. Worked out what we spent on dh car we've just part ex'd. We bought it in 2010 and it was 5 years old, from the receipts we had we spent almost £1600 on maintenance and repairs over the 6 years we owned it. Dh also had a lot of new tyres too! Just need to book MOT and service for my car as both are due next month. We really should sort out a car expenses pot.
Next thing to tackle today is the basket of hats, gloves and scarfs as there are so many that don't fit or the children won't wear!

I am pleased the leak was sorted quickly.
Yes, reducing possessions can make things so much easier and I think with small kiddies it is easy to become overwhelmed with "stuff". We operate a policy that if something comes in (of the non-consumable variety) something has to leave the house to make way for it. Our house is our home, not basically a massive playroom as so many friends houses are!
Have you read the Marie Kondo book? xMFW

Thanks everyone, starting to feel more like myself today but apart from taking the children to school I'm not actually doing much else.
Builders are here today for the first time since before Christmas! We have been delayed by the roof design done by the architects and roof company have had to amend them. Roof was meant to be done this week and knock through next week but as it stands the roof won't start until the 23rd. it's not a huge problem as the extension doesn't impact on our existing living space, it will just be nice to have it done.
Re: the car Alex, unfortunately my dh skills are not diy or car maintenance based. He does the basics but the brakes will be left to the garage. This did leave me wondering where my own children will pick these skills up from? Dh says his dad never showed him but you've got to break the cycle somewhere!
Not much MSE activity happening, now in single figures until payday so might be tempted to siphon off some more money from current account. We have plenty of food so the food account is also looking like it may end up being shuffled too.debtfreeoneday wrote: »Glad the builders sorted your leak quickly1
Thank you, they are local and i said I felt awful calling them out on a Saturday but he said he would have been more upset if we hadnt. Just need the roof to be ready asap now. We were meant to be having the knock through this week but the roof has delayed things.atypicalblonde wrote: »I am pleased the leak was sorted quickly.

Thank you, I was freezing trying to change of the containers whilst managing the leak. Not good when I'm recovering. Yes ive read that thank you, what did you think of it? I initially was aware of the principles and then a friend lent me the book. Ive just sorted out the hats, gloves and scarves I aimed to do yesterday. The ones we are keeping are all in the same basket and a few have gone in the charity shop bag. Hae a bag to go out for collection tomorrow and the other one can join the bag in dh's boot. Maybe two bags in there will spur him on to drop them off.
Am exhausted today as I was yesterday. I blamed the coupke of glasses of wine on Friday night but clearly they weren't to blame. Am craving all the wrong foods today and tried on a dress for an event this weekend expecting to feel uncomfortable. It felt good and dh said it looked great so I've relaxed with my eating! Trying on the dress didn't have the effect it was meant to!
Afternoon of football on the cards here, dh is currently baking (as requested by me) and we'll have roast chicken dinner later. I've read a chapter of my book and expect the rest of the day to continue in a similar theme.

First day back at work today which was fine until my lung started hurting and wouldn't stop! Also had to have a sleep when I got in which has made me realise it's going to be a while before I'm feeling 100%
Small top up shop done; milk, apples, decaf coffee and bread. Spends so far remain under £90 which is great.
No roof news unfortunately and builder had promised to let us know when roof was ready. I'll still hope for a surprise delivery of materials though!

I think our bodies having a very cunning way of making us slow down sometimes. Make sure you take care - you're no use to anyone if you're still not well. Be as kind to yourself as you are to others.
I quite enjoyed the book, though I have to say our approach to decluttering was spurred on by having to deal with the possessions of two recently bereaved loved ones. Peoples "stuff" becomes someone elses burden when they shuffle off this mortal coil, and so we are trying to live fairly minimalist lives as a result. Not always easy with kids, although huge ebay success this weekend selling outgrown clothes! xMFW
