Thank you MFD, I am definitely on the mend now.
Plodding on financially, couple of Tilly tidies made last couple of days (90p and 63p). This does however mean a lack of nsd's!
Did a quick SOA this week and based on dh not doing overtime we still have a good surplus each month and hat takes into account car payment, £300 a month to regular saver and existing large OP's. It's just good to see it down on paper that it is sustainable!
First pay cheque in from new business too so that's topped up the bank account a littleJune 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -

Well it seems I spoke too soon. Started going downhill when we were away in CP (which was fabulous by the way) and am back on antibiotics. There seem to be lots of chest infections around this year. I've actually been unwell since the first week of December so it's time I had a break!
Dh has been paid and all transfers made and bills paid. Builders have now finished for Christmas and unfortunately we are not water-tight as planned. They have built up to roof height and joiners booked to do the roof first week of January. They estimate they will do the big knock through he middle of January. Second invoice paid and we seem to be on budget :j
Not planning a huge christmas food shop as we had our own mini christmas at CP, had our meal then opened some presents under the tree, it was magical!dh has offered to brave the supermarket tomorrow for some last minute bits! We have one gift left to wrap by we are otherwise done! We just need to regenerate the christmas excitement as it feels surreal as it feels like we have already had our Christmas.
Hoping to catch up on all your diaries soon. I've missed you all whilst not feeling up to anything!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -

Glad you had a good time - I love CP too. XPaid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D0 -
Thanks NG and SSS, feeling slightly brighter his morning, I should think so too as nearly finished second course of antibiotics. Feeling a bit more alert and focused so working on he money shuffle as we have not been paid his week.
We had a mini disaster before we left as discovered our new car had a slow puncture! Fortunately dh knew of a mobile tyre fitting guy who wasn't going g to hit us with a £60 call out fee. Tyre repaired he morning we left for £24.
Have just totted up the spends on the cc since just before payday, £227! some of this can be recouped as one was an installment when switching over car insurance so can come out of bills account and i'll figure out the rest!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -

CP has a way of making Christmas feel sooo good. I really want to do Christmas there one day, but also worry it won't be as good as I think it will be.

Thanks Alex, it actually doesn't! We didn't realise this though. It's got one of those canesters of expanding goo!debtfreeoneday wrote: »CP has a way of making Christmas feel sooo good. I really want to do Christmas there one day, but also worry it won't be as good as I think it will be.

It was wonderful dfod, lovely atmosphere and felt more christmassy than the real day we had at home. We paid for a horse drawn carriage ride to see Santa which I wouldn't book if we went again but that's only because the free enchanted village met all our needs. Ds who is 5 told Santa he wasn't the real Santa! Even a CP grotto can't fool my two!
Plodding very slowly, feel behind with everything and December has been incredibly unproductive. I just don't have the energy to keep up with basic things. Hoovered downstairs yesterday and ended up with a huge coughing fit. My temperature went up again last night (I've completed two courses of antibiotics already). I'm hoping I can catch up with things by the weekend. I'll take the tree down over the next couple of days and attempt a post Christmas clean.
Food shopping has gone well his month, we've spent just over £205 and will only need a small top up shop to see us through to the end of the month. 2017 targets not done yet but is near he top of my 'to do' list! Mentioned to dh that the key for us has been the end of childcare costs. We only benefitted from sept-dec last year so obviously now have a whole year to reap the rewards!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Morning all.
Still coughing away here and suspect the infection hasn't cleared. Need to ring the GP later to chase up some results so will see how I get on.
2017 goals are a work in progress but should hopefully results in some positive achievements for the year.
All decorations down except the Christmas tree, children's bedrooms organised and tidied. DD will find it so much easier once she moves into her new bedroom (fingers crossed by end of February). I want to tackle their pyjamas next, I'm fed up of them wanting to wear mismatching sets so plan to streamline what hey have! Having a few new pairs for Christmas has helped with that.
Fingers crossed the goals will get written today.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0
