Thanks newgirly, I'll have a look.

One job done off the list! We did however enjoy a lovely family picnic and walk close to home. Its somewhere I've kept meaning to go but never got around to it. We are very lucky to live where we do.

Food shop done and petrol topped up. Had homemade curry for dinner, I've not had it for over 3 months and forgot how amazing it was! DH tells me he's been refining the recipe recently and it just keeps getting better! In an effort to be good in had mine with broccoli and no chocolate cake like the rest if the family.

Had a breakthrough with dd, she is a tomboy and very resistant to wearing new clothes. Asked her to try on a lovely outfit today which she wore on our trip out. She also asked me to paint her toenails this evening! Generous friends have given us a big binbag full of clothes too and there's loads of great stuff for her.

Booked our CP activities, £125 later I decided that was enough! We are only doing winter wonderland once so need to make the most of it! Dh has suggested doing some more overtime!

The rest of the week needs to be full of NSD's!

  • I love CP and esp Winter wonderland, been lucky enough to do it a few times now and I do just love it - I fancy doing Xmas at CP one year.. not sure if I'd regret it though

I'm telling myself we are only doing it once so don't mind booking expensive activities but who knows once we have experienced it! We only went for the first time last year and we just loved it!

Accounts tidied up after a spendy few days

Food spends updated and came in at about £257 which I am pleased with. Total spends were just under £400 from a £500 budget. In theory there should be £100 left but we shall see!

Reward account cashback has credited so sent that £2.36 to t3sco - small steps!

After CP spends the new curtains and bedding will have to wait until next month. We still have Ds digger curtains in our bedroom! :rotfl:

Did treat myself to two new books at the place we went to yesterday, both by j@mes Patterson, total spend 40p.

    Plan for today is.....

    Workout - must stop procrastinating
Go to builders yard for roof tile and brick
If achieve above go into council and pay fee
    Contact window guy
Check if school shoes still fit the children
    Mow lawns

If achieve above go into council and pay fee not required yet, just samples
Contact window guy will ring him tomorrow or thurs
Check if school shoes still fit the children yes they do!
Mow lawns done, was hard work though

Pleased with what we achieved today, also went into town and closed childrens' savings accounts, will re-invest tomorrow or thursday. Have bought dh his favourite aftershave for his birthday from the children, his party was his present from me.he is very difficult to buy for although he wasn't when we first got together! Walked part way into town to save on parking then spent £1 on gift wrapping service! Present does look good though and came with a free gift. Only looked quickly through packaging but think it's a weekend bag.

Falling off the wagon food wise,I'm suddenly really hungry! This evening will involve dips, cake (which I have so far resisted) and a couple of glasses of wine.

Good morning. Can't believe its the last day of August! September usually means new goals and challenges so best get a move on and set some.

Sourcing a brick and roof tile for the extension is proving harder than I thought!
Went to builders yard, they only do bricks. Went to their other branch (still local) and photo of roof tile wasn't clear enough. We came home and took more photos. Dh goes back first thing this morning and yes they have that colour but it comes in a variety of sizes. They suggested taking one off the roof. Dh tries to reach roof on our single storey extension but step ladder/bin not big enough! We're a bit stuck now! I'm pretty sure we only need to match the colour for building control purposes so waiting for them to open and I will ring them.

This is why project managing the build ourselves is something that never crossed our minds! :rotfl:

Opened a t3sco account in my name this morning, dh will open one later. Its just to srooze the mortgage money for now to earn some interest before we pay the builders. Will also put children's savings in one whilst we decide where to invest it.

Child free day out with DH planned for today :)

1st September and the last day of my annual leave. I think I can survive one working day before the weekend :)

Finally managed to source a roof tile so can take that and the brick into the council along with a note. Not sure I'll be able to do my usual free parking plus half mile walk though!

Have opened a t3sco account for myself and dh. Hopefully they will be active soon so we can get stoozing.

90p Tilly tidy and on checking bills account noticed 8ky had only taken £9 instead of the budgeted £14 so promptly sent a £5 op. Mortgage part 1 starts with £85*** as of today!

    To do today

    Go into council
    Ring window guy
    Ring builder
Find FD log in key so can open savings account
    Do workout

All jobs done! :jj opted for £300 a month into FD regular saver which will be made up of leftover extension funds initially and then paid off mortgage part 1 on maturity.

Builder be in touch in next few days to confirm start date, still pencilled in for end of this month. On our Child free day recently we popped into p@perchase and found some reduced cards I can send to all the neighbours to let them know when things are starting. Although dh struggled to find clothes we did pick bits up for the children. Dd loves drawing so got her a 'how to draw' book which we will put away for Christmas. Picked some bits up for birthdays yesterday as @ldi had reduced the Olympics stuff so got PJ's and a stationery set. Friends have recently given us a huge bag of clothes so no need to buy those now!

50p on y0ug0v yesterday and 25p this morning so still on track for £5 a month on there.

So it seems that one working day this week was perfectly manageable! I feel very organised and on top :j

Not much financial news, 95p Tilly tidy today.

Dh has been a gem and bought me a present just to say 'thank you'. Not sure what I've done but its very much appreciated, he's bought me a book I mentioned I want to read. We don't do grand gestures here but he's really good at thoughtful ones.

    Tomorrow I need to:

    Read gas and elec metres
    Update spreadsheet
    Update food spends
