As the new year approaches I have set some short term targets. I overpaid by £922 Jun-Dec last year so can draw a line under that.

    1) January OP £250 (have already arranged for 150 to go out on 1st with regular mortgage payment and will add another £100 when quidco and onepoll money received next week)
    2) February OP £375 - this includes free c/tax month amount of 125
    3) March OP £375 - same as ^^^
    4) April £150

This would see me ending April on 115,077.89 so will add to this to round down to 115k. Used SS to see what months i had saved and it makes end date August 2029 (5 months early - i would be 47!)

Onepoll money received today so added that to OP and topped up with £10 to round up to £200. That's on top of normal payment of £690. Still waiting on Quidco money of £35 so that can be added too. :j

Car has had its service and only cost £60 so really pleased. Have felt quite unwell last couple of days though, can't eat, unwell in the night so i wasn't well enough to drive up with DH this morning to pick car up so he went in a taxi. That shows I must have been ill as I don't pay for unnecessary taxis willingly! DH stayed home from work as he had been iffy too and let me sleep much of the day. He is resting now and DD is being very well behaved! :A

Tried to catch up on surveys but not much about at the moment!

Hope everyone is looking forward to New Year, we always have a quiet one so nothing major going on here!

  • I don't think you should look at the interest rate rising as wiping out your hard work, after all if you didn't do it it would be worse if that makes sense. I think we should only look at these charts when they motivate us :), the low interest rates have truly been a blessing for most of us on here, hopefully they can hold low for a bit longer :) Good luck for your new year targets!
Mortgage November 2003 was £135k, but thanks to this website on 28/08/12 we became MORTGAGE FREE!
Now just over 2 years we have taken on the challenge again! )(starting £237k Nov 2014) Current mortgage £232,399.82, current overpayment total £1550, years remaining= 17

Well done on getting some storage crates- despite all our decluttering our house is full of the things! At least our clutter is organised :-)

I am trying to think of it that way. I just think as our OP's aren't huge but our income is fairly modest compared to our mortgage it's harder to see the results. Definitely headed in the right direction though!!

    Happy New Year everyone!!!

Have been busy this morning - start as I mean to go on! Mortgage payment gone out today, seems ages since the 1st Dec! Tidied up accounts, topped up VSP's, account to pay CC bill (nearly there!) and hunted for surveys, not many about at the moment though.

Where have the free clicks gone???? Can only find a couple. Have £35 making its way from Quidco so will send that as another OP when it arrives. As I am only receiving TCB payments in dribs and drabs I am transferring that to my Savings account so I can see the benefit.

Think I will cancel Lovefilm and sign up to Nectar rentals as I am sure they have a free trial and not had a DVD from LF for a couple of weeks. DH has offered to pay for it but he offers to do that when I want to cancel anything!!

Off to a birthday party today, DD will love it as there is going to be a disco, she is quite the enertainer. Think we'll have a roast dinner later although with all the football that's on today I may not get much help with it!

Right, my big mortgage I can cope with, my DD bedtime issues I can't. Can anyone help? Please PM me if so. She is 27 months and sleeps terribly. Goes down ok, wakes later in the evening distressed and screaming and can't settle her. TERRIBLE night last night. xx

Don't seem to be getting as much time to get on here at the moment, working a 6 day week not helping.

Still waiting for mortgage balance to update which seems to be taking forever! Could probably send a bit more across but will definitely hit my £250 target for the month but need a fairly decent food shop and petrol so don't want to run short of cash before payday.

Still heard nothing from tax credits so need to try and phone them tomorrow to see if they owe me any money although from what i read today anyone with a joint income of £25k will be lucky to get anything in a couple of years.

Spotted that AA are doing boiler cover for £8 a month so may investigate that tomorrow too.

Is it just me being absent or has this forum got really busy lately??? I was halfway down page 4!!
