Hi Cath :hello:
Just wanted to say good luck with the planning application, hope it goes through. Ive been reading your thread for inspiration, think we have a similar goal of being mortgage free by forty, and our children are similar ages too. I have to ask, whats tilly tidy??
Good luck!

Fingers croseed Ali.
Thanks Hannah, do you have a diary too? A Tilly tidy is from Tilly's diasry where she used to mop up spare pennies in accounts to send as overpayments. It definitely adds up over the month and there is even a new thread for Tilly tidies.
65p Tilly tody made today. Payday tomorrow and account looking fairly healthy!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
I started a diary about 18 months ago but didnt get far, I fell pregnant and couldnt keep up with posting ( I still overpaid, not sure how, I altered my direct debit and I think it became normal!)
Ive just started a new diary, mostly because im surrounded by people that are doing the opposite and spending as much as possible, and this forum make me feel normal as well as inspiring me! Thanks for the explaination:hello:Wife & SAHM of 4 children aged between 9 and 3

For me having a diary is key. I let mine slip whilst I retrained recently and felt much better once I was back reading and porting on here. Life just gets in the way sometimes doesn't it.
Payday and 30 mins spent shuffling the money around! 77p Tilly tidy and paid extra milage money off t3sco; that balance is steadily improving.
We go away over the holidays but that won't incur too much spending as we will take food or do a shop when we get there. We don't tend to eat out and activities don't cost much as children still young. Fine and sunny weather would definitely help though!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Still no planning news. Rang builder yesterday, quote should be done by weekend. Also rang architects to check what to do about progressing onto next stage. Looks like nothing else will happen until we have planning approval. Trust it to be a bank holiday weekend, hope they update the council website today!
Current account checked and £85 paid off a cc and £300 moved across to architect fund. Have £872 in there now so hopefully can reinstate mortgage overpayment in next couple of months.
Food shop needed and we haven't bought any Easter eggs yet!
Our food spends remain low and I plan to keep it that way.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Keeping everything crossed for you Cath! The best value eggs (or should that be 'cheap-est' wacka wacka :rotfl:) I've found have been Asda, better even than Wilko/Home Bargs etc for Cadbury ones, if you have an Asda near you...

Super busy day so far!
Dh had to work today so took opportunity to catch up around the house. Have moved quite a few toys up to their bedrooms. Once we have the extension done we will no longer have a playroom and by moving stuff we can see we can survive without it. Thankfully as they get older their toys get smaller. We will have room for the piano so that's good enough for me.
Mr S shop done and food shop came in under £30 (it was our first big shop for a while). Actual bill was quite a bit more as I took advantage of 25% off clothes to buy some work trousers and some shoes and trainers for dd. Shoes don't fit so I'll take them back for refund.
Came back, went for a 3 mile run and then cleaned my car inside. I'd been so tempted to get a valet done so money saved here. Will save getting it washed until we get back from our mini break.
Also took advantage of the weather to dry two loads of washing. I do wish I didn't forget pegs every time I went out though! Refused to pay Mr S prices and had no motivation to go anywhere else! I can't believe the weather is predicted to turn tomorrow, I'd be quite happy with another sunny day.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Aldi have pegs on their special buy for 31st march, looks as though you can order them online and get free delivery as well.
