Thanks Al, wasn't as bad as I feared and managed to involve the children. Have moved quite a few things upstairs. I figured the less stuff in the playroom, the less mess they could make. Also measured out a rough guide of size of playroom to visualise our extension plan. There is ample space for what we need.
We just need to reduce the cc now so we can get plans drawn up. Am aiming for a start date of Sept 17!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Started reading up a bit on KonMarie decluttering yesterday. It has some good principles which would definitely help us to declutter even more.
It is turning out to be a bot of a spendy weekend (for us anyway!). Tennis lessons yesterday for both children, trip out this morning once they get back from swimming. DH took them as he has not seen them swim for a while and I went for a run before they left. Managed a comfortable 9.5 miles :j
Off out as a family when they get back which I am looking forward to. Am going to try not to be too frugal today, we deserve a bit of a treat
The sun is still shining although rain is forecast later so hoping it holds off.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend everyone

wow well done on the run, that's a great distance. I've started reading the Kon Marie book and I was putting some clothes away today. In my head I was thinking, nope that doesn't give me joy, nope that doesn't give me joy, yes that gives me joy lol. I can see this could well work for me.0

Totally changes your approach to tidying/decluttering doesn't it. I have 2 vases with dried flowers that have annoyed me for a long time but didn't think I could just get rid of them. They clearly don't bring me joy though.
Yesterday turned out to be not too spendy. £3 admission for us all to a local event where DS had a little playdate with a nursery friends. They are off to different school nurseries so would be lovely if they do remain friends.
Food shop planned for tomorrow and petrol this morning. Considering I usually need to fill up by a weds/thurs I have done well to make it stretch this far. Hoping to recoup some costs by saving on fuel where possible.
Legs were a bit achy walking around the garden centre after my run yesterday. Am ok up to now this morning, was a bit of a shock when my legs seized up!
Minimal spends planned for the rest of the week, no money hitting the account until next week!!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
£50 left in the bank to last 17 days. I won't need it all so will send some to the cc. Our day to day spending is well controlled, it's the big stuff like childcare which really gets in the way!
July spends.
Food - £103.22
Petrol - £40.51
Not sure there is much of that £50 left  it feels like soooo long before the account gets credited with anything!
Food/petrol spends updated. DHndid food shop using voucher and earned a 7p off a litre voucher so he will fill up tomorrow.
Feel shattered this evening, everything aches and full time work feels like too much.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Food £130.65
Petrol £108.54
Those spends seem scarily high considering we are only 8 days into the month! it feels like our money is going nowhere at the moment. I haven't spent any money since Monday so dread to think what our spends would be if we paid for lunches at work each day.
Had a car tax reminder through today despite the fact when I purchased my car in March they taxed it for 12 months. Tried ringing them but offices closed so that job will carry on to tomorrow.
Current account unfortunately went overdrawn for 2 days as dd went out earlier than I expected. Quick shuffle of money and it will hold out until next week.
Am thoroughly enjoying the tennis. I will miss Wimbledon when it's finished. Even tempted to book the second week off as leave next year!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Morning everyone. It's the weekend! :j
Had a stressful day yesterday which resulted in me popping into @ldi on the way home specifically for wine and ice lollies/ice creams. Ended up spending almost £20 but did do a top-up shop to get us through the weekend.
@ldi are selling vive drinks again which I bought last year to have as a wine substitute when I was doing SW. They are really nice and at 49p a lot cheaper than a £2.99 bottle of wine.
We have free tickets today for a local event but it's currently a bit drizzly out there and I am lacking motivation to go. We really shouldn't waste the free tickets though so I feel we HAVE to go.
Have transferred some money to new c0-0p accounts we opened via tcb so hoping the cashback will be confirmed and paid soon.
Nothing happening financially which is very boring, money will credit account Tuesday so will replace the cash I have shuffled, draw £10 cash and put the rest away for cc. This monthly pay business does not suit my needs to achieve something daily with our WIOTW figure! :rotfl:June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Hi Cath - happy weekend

I sympathise on the being frustrated with nothing much happening on the money/OP front. I've just said much the same on my diary. Must be that mid month lull

Thanks BW.
We enjoyed a fun few hours out yesterday. Saying where we went would totally give me away but we enjoyed family time with a lovely atmosphere and created memories. I wouldn't have paid for the event but the free tickets meant we experienced something we wouldn't have chosen to do.
It did end up being a spendy day, I have updated food and petrol spends. We could do with a cheaper second half of the month. I have been using Mr S as getting till spits but overall we are probably spending more so need to shop wisely.
We also ordered a new carpet for our lounge, the cheap laminate has been down since we bought the house over 10 years ago so we are well overdue upgrading. Not very MSE but I don't want to have to wait until cards paid/extension done before we make our home more homely. Tat is being fitted this week though and I can't wait.
Also managed to get a 8un holiday this morning. Not the resort I wanted but in the Exmouth area which suits us as cuts down travelling time due to not being too far off motorway. A 3 night break was about £80 for next Easter and I will pay an upgrade. I guess the children waking me at 5:30am was worth it as there were holidays left at that time. So, we have cp at the end of this year and a Devon break to look forward to.
Car tax issue sorted, it is due so will arrange to pay that monthly. My work travel expenses tend to cover our car expenses so no changes to the budget.
Have a busy day of birthday parties and am looking forward to the Wimbledon final later.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0
