Sounds nice. I think fashion is moving away from hard floors. It will be lovely and warm when winter comes.

    Morning all.

Just popping in quickly to update spends to keep me on the straight and narrow. I seem to keep popping to the supermarket for something lately. Yesterday it was picnic food for a day out and then a box of ice creams on the way home. Saturday night vino replaced with traditional lemonade, very nice it was too! Might give up Fridays now. :rotfl:

    Food £207.44
    Petrol £139.03

At least I can almost see the end of the month amd we both get our monthly pay this week. Hoping for a NSD today, the rain should help and I will be gong for a long run which will take up an hour or so!

Had a lovely day yesterday. Children's swimming lessons and even in the last few weeks they have improved a lot. Dd jumped off the diving board at her lesson today, she has no fear so was delighted with the challenge! DH did overtime while we were there. :j

I went for a run (almost 9 miles) amd when I got back I saw DH had cut the lawns and the hedges. We all then went to play at a new park which the children loved. Tbh I am amazed how much we squeezed into the day. I was also thinking whilst at the park how simple it can be with small children at times and a far lot cheaper to entertain them! :rotfl:

Payday for DH, he has moved onto monthly pay now but only been paid for 3 weeks  but as he isn't a huge earner has had a tax rebate so overall amount isn't dreadful so we will manage. He has confessed to not being able to manage his money monthly so I have sent him a weeks worth and put the rest in another account. Have I taught him nothing! :rotfl:

Tilly tidy of 46p and £5 I found so have paid that off cc. This one ends in Novemeber so want to get balance down as much as possible to save on transfer fees and stress!

Doesn't really feel like the summer holidays. I am off to work and the children are going to holiday club. First time for DS though so I hope he will be ok, private nursery is soooo different to school/holiday club. I remember being shocked when dd started school that they didn't wipe her face after lunch etc. they are only there for 6 hours so a sure all will be ok but I am a little worried about him.

Only 2 weeks of this and then either myself or DH will be at home with them. I imagine we will spend lots of time in the park!

Sounds like a lovely day :)

OOps re DH - but at least he's said this NOW, rather than a couple of months down the line, where he could potentially have got into a mess x

I agree. My DH is no good with money weekly or otherwise and I know he feels bad about it because his dad is in charge of money in his family home. I say it's better he focuses his attention on something he is good at.

I think mfw seem to seek out less Money savvy or interested partners if many of our diaries are to go by. Luckily we have found ones who let us take charge.

It's just lucky he doesn't have a big budget to waste. Why money burns a hole in anyone's pocket amazes me!

Had a mini disaster yesterday and needed to call out a plumber. £25 call out charge which isn't disastrous but I wish I got paid that for 10 minutes work! am also dreading the water bill. Water gushing everywhere is not keeping with my budget!

I feel really disappointed with our progress this month as have not reduced our WIOTw figure as much as usual. We had a shocking nursery bill last month which set us back quite a bit. However, in terms of childcare costs things are on the up. The first two weeks of the holiday is costing just over £200 for both children and there are no more costs until the final week.

I have managed to keep food spends fairly low this month. I honestly don't know if the till spits at Mr S are such a good thing or not. I have done lots of big shops last month which sends costs spiralling it hoping to claw it back with just buying what we need this month.

Areas I need to focus on for the next couple of months are....

    1) the big cc, have a balance transfer deal available until the end of August but need to try and knock quite a bit off the balance.
    2) ensure t3sco card we use to snooze is being cleared in full each month. Less stoozing power now that it's not being used for nursery fees.
    3) clear CP balance £95 left due the end of next month.

I also need to pay for half a terms swimming this week which is £110 and trying to decide whether to enrol DS in tennis lessons for next term.

I am also watching an item on eBay which I hope no one else is remotely interested in! I do not want to be part of a bidding frenzy!

Enjoy those days off Helen, do you have plans?

Went for a quick run tonight, <3 miles in about 25 minutes but was more breathless due to faster pace. I do enjoy the quick runs and they are 'do-able' after work.

Have just done an online shop for £47.50 (it soon mounts up!!)

    Updated spends

    Food - £254.94
    Petrol - £139.03

Planning to get a meat delivery so imagine costs by end of month be around £300 again. I remember a time they were £200!

Payday at last and money shuffle done :j also made a 62p Tilly tidy, don't get to do many as there isn't much current account activity.

All money transferred to where it needs to be, cc paid, S&S isa money it to one side and the account still looks healthy. I have £200 left but as it is the summer holidays I don't want to leave us short as we deserve a little treat time.

I need to investigate some cheap birthday presents as my last stash has run out and the children have a pile of invitations!
I also had an emaill to say our gas and elec tariff is coming to an end so I need to decide whether to switch. In the past I haven't really found I have saved by switching but will see what TCB also has to offer.
I also need to do the sums for a balance transfer offer and set some targets for the rest of the year. Hopefully now nursery costs are clearer I can come up with a good plan and keep me motivated. We are hoping to start the extension September 2016 so won't be long before we really need to get the ball rolling!
