could you use the principle of 'pay yourself first'? Siphon the £300 off into a savings account so it is out of sight yet still accessible in an emergency. Then try and survive February with what is left in your current account.
News coverage I've seen of the weather your way looks grim. Stay warm and safe. The snow is forecast to just miss us, which I'm gutted about. A snow day would let me really get on top of things. hey ho!know thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0 -
Well done on achieving your target for the month.
I wish you well with getting down the 93 figure too. It's always exciting to reach the next milestone0 -
Thanks both. DH gets paid weekly so have to pay cc as money comes in. He is meant to be going onto monthly pay which would make things easier but I'm dreading that first month!
Just sold an item for £8 so think I will pay that off the cc now and can use the cash for any necessary spends the rest of the week. We have loads of fruit so hopefully we shouldn't need more than bread and milk before Friday.
Now to plod on with the remaining Sunday jobs, have a pile of washing to put away and should probably attempt some ironing. I would rather just watch a film with the children though!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
I love getting Monday out of the way! Was super busy so the day flew and we are one day closer to the weekend :j
No money moved about, Hally reward not credited yet. Also chased up DH pension again. It left the previous provider on the 24th and has not appeared yet! Whilst checking I also noticed that dec 13 and 14 payments left the current account but never reached the pension! Not good when you have to hunt for pension funds! This road to financial independence/retirement is not easy.
Sending DH shopping with a strict shopping list tomorrow. We don't seem to be able to stay out of the supermarket the week. Need some 'no supermarket days'June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Hally reward in, moved about and extra bits paid off t3sco cc. DH gets paid tomorrow so any more than expected will go off WIOTW figure. We are out with friends tomorrow though so will need around £25 for that. I am going to drive which will keep spends down amd I don't mind doing so. Really looking to catching up with friends though in adult company, we rarely go out and really need to make sure we don't lose touch with good friends.
Will have another weekend of keeping food spends low. I don't think DH went shopping today and we will just need fruit and wine for the weekend!
Have had a really interesting few days in work this week which has been so inspiring and reminded me how lucky I am to do the job I do. Also on my way home today saw a beautiful sunset as I drove through the village that is on my hitlist and one I regularly look at on rightm0ve! So all in all, a good day!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
DH wages in and a good chunk of overtime too! So, an extra £50 paid off cc reducing amount needed to find for the rest of the month to £284. There is still lots of month left so we should do it! What will I do with all this money when the cards have gone???
Also sent a Tilly tidy of 68p to cc so outstanding figure be even lower if i keep these up daily. Also paid a chunk off stoozing card so we are getting ahead of ourselves with that one and our points total increasing nicely. Will need less petrol than budgeted for too as used much less this week so that will help too. I'm having a new car next month (for free!!) so don't want to sell this one (keeping the sale money too!) with too much petrol in it!
Right, better make a move. Have an assessment in work today which I'm fairly relaxed about but best have a couple more cups of coffee first!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Had a good night catching up with friends and Well worth what we spent which was about £50 in all! DH drove so shows how expensive meals and drinks out are. We would have spent a lot more if DH having drinks and then taxis on top. Totally worth it though!
Have finally bought dd the costume I promised her so there will be super excitement when that arrives.
72p Tilly tidy made. DH messed up my system by paying petrol on the wrong card, then paying the bill last night with current account rather than the cash I drew out!
Quiet weekend planned apart from children's sports activities. Hopefully catch up with diaries with a hot chocolate later.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Well it's a dreary old day here. Took children to swimming lessons which is 20 miles mostly down country roads and visibility was down to 20m most of the way. Dd is coming on so well with swimming, she only started in May but due to excellent teaching and small classes she is doing really well and enjoying it. DH has taken DS to a birthday party so dd and I have had chance for homework and hot chocolate and we will fit in a board game too
Did a quick top up shop and spent £20 so only spent £38 this week! Have taken turkey from Christmas out of the freezer for dinner today and there are two more batch cooked meals to use up. Made an apple and blackberry crumble yesterday (there is very little left as I lurrrve crumble) using up blackberries from my mums. Have some raspberries in the fridge to use so DH is going to make white chocolate and raspberry muffins which will be good for lunch boxes this week.
Have a really hectic week ahead in work which means Friday will come around very quickly!
Also only topped up with £20 petrol instead of budgeted £30 so we are under budget on that too. Will be using car lots in work this week but should have enough.
Hoping TCB money is payable end of month as OP's are coming from saving money rather than generating extra income at the moment!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Hmmm, account proving tricky to balance after DH messed up my system! Having to move money round so will sort it all on Friday. Had to pay second installment of swimming lessons so almost £90 not budgeted for!hoping writing a cheque gives me a few days grace.
Am shattered after work today - think it is going to be a long week!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Almost halfway through month and still need to find/raise £284 to hit target. DH payday tomorrow an I think he may have some overtime so fingers crossed I am right! Has been a low spend week in term of food but have had to do a lot of money shuffling to keep accounts balanced which I will replace tomorrow.
27p tilly tidy made. Hoping for another low spend food/petrol week. Only working a couple of days next week so that will reduce spends. Have to make sure we think of free things to do with the children.
I've also won a fb competition for a local gym that is re-opening so should have some vouchers coming my way. I need to make time to exercise, any full time working parents on here that manage it? What am I doing wrong?June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0
